I really hate when people "brag" about being the fastest picker. so fucking what?what does that mean anyways? it's not musical. there's no application there. just soulless noodling, like a computer. I don't get how that's cool. that's like a drag racer bragging about having the best air freshener.

Yeah that was all picked between two strings throughout the whole rhythm. I wrote that for the high school football team for when they hit the field, which is why it's only about a minute and a half, that's all the longer it could be.
Those other tracks are ancient though, like ten years at least but "The Raid" I did last month.
But thanks for the kind words!

Well for me it opened up a lot of doors - when that Guitar World article came out about the Fastest Guitarists I wasn't even told about it because I don't subscibe to any of the mags. I just started getting a ton of emails from folks and it got me a few endorsements.

But feel and emotion is where it's at seriously - I love the slow bluesy playing as much as the shred stuff. I have a clip on my page of Amazing Grace that really showcases very slow, emotional playing.

But I think it's best to have everything in your arsenal. Leave something for everybody I feel.

So thats who you are? I don't mean this offensively, but I have never heard of you before! But that is awesome! Best of luck to ya.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

No offensive taken at all jacksonguy. Man it was one of the coolest things to ever happen to me seriously. I'm the only guy on there that was unkown and I was the fastest living (according to the Notes per Second program), since Shawn Lane has passed away.
You can't buy press like that so I was very humbled by that. One day only a handful of players know me, then a lot more and I got some endorsements and a record deal.

The only problem was/is I don't always want to play like that because my roots are from the 70's and I'm actually a HUGE blues/rock fan and I have mixed fans. The shred players hate when I play the slow bluesy fake-slide stuff I do and the blues guys hate the shred stuff LOL! So I just play for whatever the song calls for and I'll let the chips fall where they may.

It's all good my friend! I have seen that video and you are 100% percent correct about playing something fast just to be fast.
And your right that many players have missed the point of playing something fast, which should be to create excitement or tension in a piece of music as opposed to killing the listeners interest in the music due to the abuse of technique.
I think vibrato and phrasing are the most important techniques there is.

he says in the video "if you can play faster than me, then I will bow to YOU!" so in the mean time, we should be doing the bowing. lol! I love shredding, but this guy is embarrassing.

Love it. Floyd/Rear 'Bucker/Volume Knob. It's 1986 all over again.
8 strings? Because 6 is too easy?

Yeah I've always loved that straight ahead approach and it's great to get back to that stripped down set up - it took me twenty years! LOL!

Mitch is amazing at what he does and IS very cheap cost wise for what he does.

I really do wish that Charvel or Jackson could back to just selling bodies and necks for custom orders or special little mods like I need.
