Yes! I always remembered 'Deth always had crap muddy guitar tone around that era! They should've fired that sound guy years before! Hey maybe the sound guy was Dave's drug connection ha ha.

Reading Dave's article changes what I thought about that lineup of the band. Him and David are still close but Jimmy's chick cursed out "the boss" and he said that Al didnt really want to be in a band anymore. Talk about blowing my mind, I love Al.

It's got an awsome article on Clash Of The Titans tour in the 80's with Metallica, Slayer, Testament and Anthrax.

Yep, I saw them in Buffalo, NY

Alice In Chains, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Umm,.. some of the Cort set neck/neck thru models are blowing their competition into the weeds pricewise, playability & craftsmanship, especially some of their basses.
So I would not be suprised at their company being of more value. I say Fender saw an opportunity to turn a buck and buyout some of the competition.

I went to the Clash Of The Titans also, in the early 90`s. Alice, then Slayer, then Megadeth, then anthrax, that is how the lineup was in Pittsburgh,PA. I didn`t care for Alice, Slayer is my favorite band, but they weren`t loud enough, they should have full cranked it, but very low sound, kinda dissapointed,Slayer has always been great live. Then came Megadeth, louder, but a very thin sound. Then came Anthrax, loud and full the best sound, it should have sounded like that for all of the bands, didn`t make sense at the time. Jack.

Dave Mustaine, once again showing what a true classless artist he really is. He truly is a legend in his own mind. He was never close to a deal with Gibson. Fender is finally making some good decisions with the Jackson brand. "All the orders Hamer guitars would have to fill once his name is on them" please.

Not that I care what Mustaine does at this point, but as far as Hamer is concerned, they're probably about as backed up as Jackson's USA shop, and from what I understand, are a smaller operation. While I agree that Dave overestimates himself when it comes to selling guitars, I can't imagine Hamer being in a position to start producing a Mustaine signature model in a timely manner.

Re: This month\'s Guitar World

I finally read this article. Man, what a hoot! From Dave's mouth:

- I was going to buy Jackson, but it always fell through on their end.
- I was insulted that they wouldn't sell to their #1 endorser. ( Since when is that a business criteria?) ...And was disgusted when it went to Fender, instead.
- Hamer couldn't meet my endorsement requirements (i.e., Pay me big bucks and/or provide umpteen million free guitars.)
- Hamer is too small and couldn't build all the guitars I would sell for them anyway.
- Gibson was very interested, but they "couldn't reconfigure it to be 24 frets". (...Visualizing Gibson executives nudge-nudge, wink-winking each other. "Really, Dave. We'd love to have you as an endorser, but we just can't do 24 frets." )
- ESP wanted me so bad, that they gave me an old-stock V model from their warehouse that wouldn't sell, and I thought it was awesome! So I added an "8 ball" inlay (because it's called the DV8, right? ) and it was mine!
- And if anyone doesn't understand why I left Jackson, just play one. ...Then goes on to say he made it just like the Y2KV.
- Did you go into rehab? Yeah, "something happened." But then goes on to skirt the issue, and make it seem like he was really preempting a relapse. (This one makes me concerned, as it gives the impression he may still not have admitted to himself that he has a problem.)

One could go on....

So much talent, so much . If he could just get over himself, and his bitterness towards Metallica (from decades ago!). His own mouth is his worst enemy.

And, yet, as much as he's an arrogant self-centered, egotistical jerk that I dislike (...but enjoy his music), the article actually made me feel sad for him.

Shreddermon, thank you... i understand people really like his music (i personally don't) but he doesn't get reality... he thinks someone owes him something for everything that's happened to him, in my world to get something you work hard for it and eventually it comes to you. Even if it doesn't at least i know i gave it everything i had.

That's too funny Shreddermon! I can also picture the Gibson people saying "Quick, hide the Iommi SG, maybe he won't notice!"

Gibson seems to only use endorsers who had already been playing their guitars for a long time and were closely associated with them--Iommi, Page, Joe Perry, Dickey Betts, Zakk, etc...

Mustaine comes off like an endorsement *****, in contrast. If that's what he wants to do, then more power to him, but any statement he makes that he *just loves ESP* is bound to be taken with a grain of salt, given that he probably never deigned to actually buy one with his own cash. In other words, if he won't, why should I?
