Does anyone here own the octopus rape guitar?

Mat, I suppose you joined JCF after the incident, but Tekky's gf (also a member here) was raped a couple years ago...there were quite a threads about it...so I can understand Tekky's sensitivity to these threads...

I assumed such, and I am incredibly sorry to hear this, but I still stand by what I said. Saying I "perpetuate" the name, even though I never pinned the name to the guitar, and made this thread well over a year ago, while not breathing a word to the Space Rape thread where they're quite literally laughing at the subject is insulting. I'm not insensitive to anything really, so blaming me for the cause of this is aggravating.

Also, when I said you can shit all over that thread in my previous comment, I did/do regret using that choice of words.

No, I merely pointed out that he didn't say a word in that thread, even though there's some open rape jokes in that thread, where as in this thread he's saying it's my fault it's named the Octopus Rape guitar?

My problems are:
1. He insinuated that I wasn't against rape, because I called the guitar "Octopus Rape," just like everyone else on here knows it as.

Call me an insensitive prick (because, honestly, I am) even though I understand his feelings on the subject and I'm sorry to hear about his girlfriend, I think it's a little much for him to expect that everyone adopts his level of sensitivity to the subject matter.

I didn't say anything in the other thread for the plain and simple fact that I did not see it. (I didn't see it until today and I really don't want to see any more than I already have.) I hadn't been to this forum for quite a while and when I decide to pay a visit and the first thread I saw was this one. I was digusted by it and decided to make a statement on it.

I don't know you or your stance on rape. I say you perpetuate the tasteless name of this guitar because a) you started this thread b) pretty much every time I had seen you post in the past it was about this guitar and c) you put your title for it in your signature. (it's pretty much the reason I originally blocked myself from seeing your posts, unfortunately it doesn't remove the posts you had started which is why I saw this one.)

I never said it's your fault that it was given this tasteless title. I said you perpetuated it. Someone else maybe came up with the name, I don't know, I don't really care. Instead of giving it some other name you again, put it as your signature, referred to it quite often by this name, and then started this thread. Maybe it seems like I am singling you out, but this term seems to be attached to you way more than anyone else. Especially for the aforementioned reasons.

To be honest I did think you were kind of singling me out, and how I read what you said, made it seem like I didn't care about it, hence my kind of "harsh" response. As for my signature, I haven't changed it in ages, it still has gear I haven't been using for a while. Of course, I'm going to change it, on the grounds that it's bothering you, and out of respect for you as a person.

Didn't say I didn't like to be told to lighten up. (even though I don't, but I expected someone to say it) I didn't even say you couldn't make light of it. I just expressed my opinion.

That said, I will NEVER lighten up on the topic of rape nor see any reason for using it in humor. Living with a survivor of it, I know how un-funny the word, just as much as the action itself, is. It hits too close to home.

Without wanting to sound insensitive, it's just a guitar at the end of the day. No one's making jokes about rape, it's merely a ridiculous name for a ridiculous guitar. It's like 'wifebeater', i've heard women who have experienced domestic abuse getting sensitive about the name of a goddamn shirt. Of course, neither domestic abuse nor rape are subjects to be laughed at, but accusing Mat of perpetuating the subject of rape as funny is a bit much, no?
