Strings-I've been buying Ernie Ball Slinkys at Best Buy for 5 dollars a pack.
Picks-I have a lifetime supply leftover from my own music store many moons ago.
Gear-pawnshops, The Music Store on Devine, forum bro's, sometimes Craigslist.
    Amps-I mostly make my own.

Tech-DIY. Buy some Dan Earwhine books, read them, understand them, and start small.
There is a guy that advertises on Craigslist downtown that is a luthier.

And if you are into alternative instruments you HAVE TO check out
Bill's Pickin' Parlor in West Columbia.
    Great man and very reputable.

        Cool.
Certainly not a place to take your Jackson though.
