I think it's more of a mental aversion than a serious physical access problem.
If you want to adapt to it, it's no big deal. If you're gonna have a cow over it, stick with neck-throughs.

i tend to agree..My friend has an ibeenhit rg270dx or some nasty **** like that, and its upper frets were way easier to reach with the sculpted heel, than they were on an atx archtop, and my fingers are definitely not short...But again, its not anything paralysing, it just feels better somewhat.
