  • NGD!! Finally tracked down a Surf Green Surfcaster12!

    FINALLY!

Took me 4 years of searching, and 15 years of GAS to get this one, and she is just drop-dead gorgeous. Charvel Surfcaster 12 in turquoise finish!

Looks to be a '95- judging by the OHSC- all my other charvel cases have the vintage styled closures, including the one I bought new in '94.

Found her on the 'bay- NEW OLD STOCK! Plastic still on the pickguard and not a mark on her! Simply immaculate.

She now joins the clan as SC12 number 5- just one more to go!

I am now on the hunt for the final piece to my collection: Surfcaster 12 in Trans Burst finish- has anyone ever even SEEN a 12-string in that color? If anyone has a lead on one, let me know. (Although it may be a while until I can afford it!)

What is "trans burst"? What color? Like a cherry burst? I had a Surfcaster double neck in cherry flamed top...

It's referenced as "trans burst" or "Star Glow" in the gatalogs, and yes, I think it is the cherry burst. I've seen pics of a burst doubleneck, (probably yours) just never a straight-up 12 string. I wonder how many (if any) made it into the market.

Does anyone have the link to the original JCF "Gallery"? It's in there. I don't have it, I sold it years ago. Wish I still had it. Used it for "Hotel California," "Stairway," "Close My Eyes Forever," and even some Elton John. Killer tones, those lip stick tube singles kick it out.

New here to these forums but not new to Jackson. Was hoping anyone here can tell me how the surf green Jackson twelve-string at this following link is related to the Charvel model being discussed here? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280540833597 They appear identical other than brand name on the headstock. I placed a bid on this early on but was outbid and am considering going higher but am trying to find out a bit more about the model before I go higher on it. I had posted this in the ebay area but folks don't seem to know there.

I've heard that the Jackson ones don't quite measure up to their Charvel counterparts, but I've never been able to A/B them to tell a difference. In theory the Jackson in question is identical in every way apart from the logo on the headstock- same factory, same woods, etc. So again in theory, it should play and sound identically. The jackson ones were made between 1996 and 1999, so with a shorter production run you could assume he is telling the truth about the rarity- 3years in production vs. 5years for the Charvels. I've been watching this one as well, but it's starting to get a bit out of my affordable range- if only because I just bought mine. Over the last few years that I've been on the hunt, I've noticed that the 'good' Jacksons like this sell for maybe 10% less than their Charvel counterparts.
