  • Value of Y2KV

I got one off of ebay for 1150 shipped a month ago. I've seen 2 recently sell for 1200 - 1300, and I've seen a few sellers try the "discontinued....pre fender....collecters item..." bit and put a $3000 price tag on them. Needless to say, those did not sell at auction.

wasn't the gun metal grey an option only brought in near the last run of those guitars ??? That might make it something....

If you are toying with the idea of selling it Mike, keep me in mind.

      Value of Y2KV

Just out of curiosity, have Y2KVs gone up in value since they've been discontinued? Mine is a gun metal grey one with matching headstock finished January 31st of 2003. I just wanted to know if it is worth anything major. thanks folks.

Thanks bro but I dont think Id sell this guitar. unless I got an offer that was way too good to turn down. I waited 8 months and worked hard for this baby. I dont know of Gun metal grey was limited or whatever. I just know mine is the only one ive seen with nonlogoed SD at the neck and painted headstock. I love it. It would be cool if it was one of the last ones made. Its a 2003 model so that has to be close. I was just wondering if it was worht like anything special. But if I ever do sell it Ill put it up on here.

          Re: Value of Y2KV

Dude, no offence, but weren't you asking about this one a while back trying to find out if it was THE last one made ever or some crap like that?
If so, please, give it a rest already. If you're not selling, no one here cares if it's the last one ever made except you, in which case YOU should contact Jackson directly and ask them where yours sits in the timeline, instead of making a new thread every couple of months stating how you think yours may be the last one.

If you find out for sure from Jackson that you do indeed have the very last USA Select Y2KV ever made, post that, but otherwise it's getting reeeeeeeealy tiresome.

If you want to find out the current market value, put it on Ebay with a $3000 reserve (or whatever reserve you'd take for it) and see how high the bidding goes. Wherever the bidding stops by the end of the auction is how much someone is willing to pay for it, which is how market value is determined.

Amen newc. There are about 5 or 6 posts where jackson16 says the following in the cotext of 'ohhh i love my guitar, its so rare i bet its worth much....how much is it worth? ....ohh but i'd never sell it'...i said it once, and ill say it again, GET OVER IT, if you love it so much you wouldnt even be thinking about selling it ffs...whoa your guitar could have been the last one made, big ****. Jeez sorry didnt know a few posts about my guitar was that big a deal. Sorry if I dont have like 10 USA jacksons to talk about, I got one and Im proud of it. I sit here and see tons of useless posts but no one jumps on the people that start them. I didnt say my guitar was rare I just said I havent seen one like it before. I was just wondering if the value of Y2KVs has gone up since they've been discontinued. Now I see why a lot of people don't post much here anymore.

                Re: Value of Y2KV

But the only logical reason to ask about the value is to get a base for selling. That's it. Period. Otherwise, who care's if they are going up or down? So you can brag to your friends "I've got a guitar that I can sell for $xxxx"?
                Whoopee-doo!
And I don't have 10 USA Jacksons - I have 3. I don't make any comments on whether they are going up or down in value.
There's a difference between an annoying post and a useless post. Your posts regarding that Y2KV possibly being the last one are annoying. If it's for sale, list it in the classifieds. If it's not for sale, dont' ask about dollar value.
Play it and f*ck the dollar value. It's not a stock certificate, a Municipal Bond, or a Certificate Of Deposit - it's a guitar. Play it.
Tell us how it plays, and how its superior quality has helped your playing to progress. Post mp3s in the MP3 section of how it sounds.
But stop with the "collector" crap.

Sorry Newc I was just wondering if the market for Y2KVs have gone up in value. Is it so wrong to want to know the value of something you have? Im not going to brag cuz there are tons of people who like 5 or 6 guitars worth way more than mine. I do play it and enjoy playing it. But wanting to know a little background info on a guitar I have isnt that big a deal. If its so annoying, me talking about it then why do you read them all? If you dont want to hear about it you dont have to click on it. I ask questions here about it because the people here know way more than Ill ever know about guitars and most of the time they are nice and polite. I didnt mean any offense or to tick you or anyone off talking about my guitar, but if you dont like it dont read it.

                      Re: Value of Y2KV

value is diofferent to everyone...if you bought it for monetary value...stick it under your bed...it'll be worth more in 10 years...if you bought it to play it and love it then do that instead...i own 8 c/j's (3 strat heads) and they all get played regularly...couldn't care less what they're worth to other people other than for eye candy's sake...they were meant to be played...if i wanna make money , i'll play the stock market instead of trying to inflate the prices of the guitars we all love...my .02...d.m.

i mean, i'm glad you like your y2kv but when i get a new one, i put up one post about it and leave it at that (yes even for the kelly i had been looking for for 2 years)...

                        Re: Value of Y2KV

All I wanted to know is how the market is for them. I saw one on ebay for like an outrageous amount and some guitar shop online was selling one for like $2000. So I didnt know if the things just like jumped in value or something. Ive only posted about this guitar a few times. Once was if I should change the pickups to EMGs, once about the serial number and if anyone knew anything about it. Its not like every week I post about it.
On one hand you can count how many posts of mine I have about this guitar. I dont see whats so wrong with just wanting to know how much a guitar you have is worth. How do yall know I wont sell it? In a year or two I might need the money. sorry folks.

                          Re: Value of Y2KV

I would heed the advice above and list it on eBay to see what the value is. You should really list it 4-5 times and get an average. Seeing a huge asking price or a stupid opening bid does not show value.

actually searching under "completed items" is the best way to find out what they're actually selling for...d.m.

I might do that, but first I have to make an ebay ID. Sorry Newc for me seeming like a smarta$$. thanks folks.
