  • any chance they'll bring back Charvel 750?

being a shawn lane fan, I can't imagine what it would feel like to hold a Charvel 750 in my hands. Heavenly is a close approximation. Any chance Jackson/Charvel will produce that? I think this is a good time for it, because thanks to Youtube and some dedicated fans, Shawn Lane is being discovered in many parts of the world simultenously by younger players whose jaws have been permanently plastered to the floor seeing him play (me being one of them). I think Charvel can really do great if they do another production of this great guitar...

opinions? ideas about how we can let Charvel know? I was told that Dinky DK2M was a child of this forum, so can we do some thing like that for this model? Who's with me?

I agree that a revival of the 750 would be awesome, but don't hold your breath.
The 750 was an odd-ball thing for sure; a super-strat with Les-Paulish materials and construction.
The Charvel brand has gone back to their roots now, with more of a "hot rod Fender" image.
I'd be very surprised to see any new neck-thrus or set-necks come with a Charvel logo.

Your best bet to find one is to keep an eye on eBay, or the classifieds here of JCF.
I have one of the basswood ones (solid color; pearl magenta), but I'm not prepared to sell it.

It won't happen. Even if it did, I bet it would be priced like a USA Jackson or near as dammit, if the 750's original spec was retained.
      Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

The closest thing made recently I think is the Sam Ash archtop "SL2H". It's the general idea, but they'd need to change woods, scale length, etc.

Go get yourself a good Les Paul, like an Axcess.

I don't think so. I am more of a superstrat kind of a guy...
well I'll save up for a american archtop soloist or a PC1

You could get a 750 through the Jackson Custom Shop. And they will do 'em with the older Charvel toothpaste logo. You could get it to exact specs too. Very expensive for sure. To me, they were the best Charvels ever made, USA or not.

Were the 750s short-scale guitars? I know some of the imports were. I much prefer 25.5" myself.

Yup, short scale. Soundwise, I tend to prefer the Fender scale as well. =)

Amazing that less than an inch in scale length can make such a difference...although I'm sure the 750 is sweet.

Ok I've been studying guitars a lot for a long time but haven't got a great answer to this question:

what differences it makes between a 25.5 scale and the shorter gibson scale?
Sound wise? Playing comfort? I have always played Ibanezs and Jacksons so I guess I am a 25.5 guy myself, but what problems/benefits will I face with the shorter scale?

                      Any one?

It's very hard to say anything specific, because often guitars with different scale length also have different materials and pickups, making the comparison difficult.

However, I think the 25.5" scale has a slightly more articulate sound. By comparison 24.75" sounds a little less pronounced I think. Not "muddy" or anything, just not quite as clear?

In terms of playing comfort, I find that I manage stretches over the high frets slightly better on 24.75". It is of minimal benefit to me, but in same cases it makes a difference. I have short fingers, and stretches that are difficult on 24.75", are just plain impossible on 25.5".

Why would you experience differences in sound? The difference is in the FEEL of the string. Slightly less string tension on a shorter scale. Carvin has the best of both worlds, a 25 inch scale.

The 750XL is really cool, and they´re made very well. The body has some nice mass to it and the neck has a nice, full feel. But like the others said, it´s not coming back.

I have one in pearl white, but sadly I don´t play it much... the combination of the 24.75" scale and the 24 frets puts the neck humbucker in an awkward spot for me. Messes with my picking.
