I love when Newc actually gets pissed off that someone else has the "wrong" opinion. It's fucking awesome, and you never know what's going to set him off! It'd be a goddamn riot to see it in person some day...

Newc on a date: "Vanilla?! What the fuck is this? Are you fucking kidding me? Who the fuck orders a fucking vanilla cone!? Chocolate, you fucking idiot! Chocolate!! I'll tell you what... you're walking home, bitch! You can take your fucking 1940 Jimmy Stewart treat and get the fuck out of my mom's Cordoba!"

I personally don't like v-trems and agree it'd be a huge mistake to make a bunch of them (like they did with the pointies in '05 - '05), but they do sound completely different than a floyd and I get that some people dig that tone enough to think it's worth the downsides that come along with it.

Most of my guitars have floyds what's wrong with wanting something else?
Why can every other guitar company in the world have guitars with vtrems and toms but NOOO you should fucking die for suggesting that on a charvel.
I own 2 and love my 2005 charvels with vtrems.

Ugh! Go buy a Fender so every time the trem bar works loose, you can hear it rattle through your amp. More nice (OFR equipped) guitars for the rest of us

No, I never had a mullett. Mulletts say "I take it up the ass". "Business" in the front, "party" in the back. Yeah right. Short in the front so it doesn't interfere with the blowjob, and long in the back so the rider has something to hold on to.

              Nope. No mullett for me.

And yeah, I like ranting unexpectedly about bullshit. I've been practicing my over-reacting lately

Let's take a step back and look at the irony here. 2 years ago everyone complained that these are just going to be fender copies. NOW we don't have our promods but we have fenders made on the same machines with compound radius fretboards. Did see where I'm coming from now????
Lots of us asked for charvels with vtrems I wounder why we aren't getting them.
MSRP, whatever. A Pro Mod MSRP isn't $1099, that's MAP.

Fender trying something new? Oh no, let's get mad. Are you sure you aren't a typical Fender customer?

The American Standard is the same price as the Pro Mod, with no Floyd. Get mad about that, why don't you.

The American Deluxe existed last year, for the same price, without the compound radius... So how much extra are they charging for it?

Your comment made zero sense. It still does. Sorry.

By the way Rich on thinking about it a little more, I get where you are coming from with the theory on why no vtrems and why compound radius now, I just don't totally agree with it. But it's an opinion, so whatever, you're entitled to yours as much as I am mine.

However the whole "charge an extra $1000 for it" thing is way off base when you stay within the Fender line. It's a new feature on the Deluxe Strat, which you basically get for free. That's my opinion. They didn't charge anything for it... And I still bet the typical Strat guys will hate it, though they would NEVER buy a 2-point tremolo, especially not one with those "awful" polished solid steel saddles.

[QUOTE][However the whole "charge an extra $1000 for it" thing is way off base when you stay within the Fender line./QUOTE]I thought MSRP and MAP were the same on the charvels and I was looking at the fender website for the price on the fenders. That's were I got the $1000, but yes it's only 400-450 price difference.

Yeah. I hear where you are coming from as far as that. $1500 guitars getting held up by $1099 guitars (that they probably don't have as big a margin on) is probably why this happened. We can only guess though since Bionic has not been back to say anything (that I've seen?) since he dropped the bomb.

the MAP on the new American Deluxe is 1500 and the HSS is 1550. They introduced the compound radius, the N3, and the new Passing lane one the HSS...

The guitars are the first fender guitar that I ever wanted as a player. Sounded incredible. the american standard is what has not really changed over the years.. The American Deluxe that has been available for a while, is where they put "new stuff".

Damn..this thread is all over the place. Wasn't the original question, "why did they move production to Japan?". I think it was very simply stated early on... money.

I think it sucks, personally...that's why I've made sure to get one of each USA Pro-mod. And I got my most recent 7th batch red ale for the same price as the new Jap models. And I will tell you this. The quality of this thing is absolutely wonderful....at least for a guitar in this price range (and I got mine new for 799). I can't stop looking at it. By far the nicest of the three Charvel Pro-mods that I own. I'm sure Jap made Charvels will be good quality....but I'm sorry...I don't care what anyone says...I'm not worried at all. Japanese Charvels aint gonna match these things that I have...and even if they come close, they don't say "Made in U.S.A."

I've got an American Deluxe Strat as well...this is a $1600 instrument street price ($1999 MSRP according to Fender's website). This is just a higher quality instrument than the Charvels...that simple. But you pay for it. Everything...the finish, the fretwork, the hardware...it just is a beautiful instrument. That said, I find it hard to compare to the Charvels in terms of what I would use it for. Granted...I dropped a JB Jr. in the Strat..just to make it play a little hotter (cause that's what I do)...but I won't be playing anything that requires huge divebombs or pull-ups on a Strat either. Won't be any thrash metal coming out of this thing (although the JB Jr. does make it possible...almost). Same goes for anything bluesy...I prefer the Strat's single coils...It kinda is an apples to oranges comparison (not to sound too cliche). Plus, my strat is a v-neck...which is quite a bit different from the Charvel's necks..not that it's a bad thing...but I could certainly see why some people don't like them. V-necks actually work well for me.

Anyway, that's how I see it (comparing an american deluxe with a Pro-Mod)....Perhaps an American Std. Strat in an HSS configuration, with a standard C (compound radius) neck and a floyd installed...that would be comparable to a USA Pro-Mod Charvel...and certainly closer in price.
