Anyone own one? How are they as far as quality, playability, etc.? Are they worth the money? Thanks

I hvae heard they are very good. I don't know about for the money... They are a pretty usual guitar... Essentially a Charvel with the Jackson name on it and a special pickup config. You could find an HSS USA Charvel and put in the two Fender single-coils and the Super Distortion and basically have the same thing aside from paintjob and ebony board.

My opinion: Get an SL1. It will play better, sound just as good if not better, look better, and cost less.

EDIT: IF you like Bolt-Ons, you could also find a DK2 and swap the pups, but you would get a MIJ guitar not a USA and the rosewood board.
    I like EL34s.

I have the maple board version and it's a great guitar. I was really very impressed when I got it. As for being "worth the money", that's subjective of course, and dependant on the price you can get one for. I think they're fairly expensive for what they are, but I had to have one so maybe they priced it just right for their market

The AS feels like a custom made professional instrument so don't think that buying a production Charvel and changing the pickguard will get you the same guitar. The AS neck is more Charvel than Jackson, so the SL1 would feel very different (plus it has 24 frets) so while pricewise, the SL1 is probably more guitar for the money (neck thru, binding, inlays etc) they are not really in the same ballpark.

Ultimately, it comes down to trying it out and seeing if you like it. The AS is an 'old school' guitar in many ways (non recessed Floyd, 22 frets, no heel scallop) so if that's your thing, then you might love it. But if you want a modern shredder feel, it's likely not for you.
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

I love mine. Here's a video of me strangling it:

Just jamming along to a chord progression - doing some mostly minor pentatonic licks. Playing my adrian smith jackson through a line 6 jam looper

I wasn't saying you were making funny faces, I just thought your facial mannerisms there were very like Adrians, if you ever watch his solos (which you obviously have!).

Hey Guys...was not sure if I had ever made a post on the forum here or not.
My name is Mark and I live in Raleigh, N.C. Figured this thread would be a good
place to introduce myself. Adrian Smith is probably my favorite guitarist of all time.
Had been foaming at the mouth to get one of his sigs since they were released.
Was finally able to get a good deal on one last winter. Here is me with my Adrian Smith
                        after getting it last February:

I love this guitar. The neck for me takes a little getting used to because I am
used to my Les Paul Custom or my PRS McCarty that has a wide fat neck....
but the guitar is super comfortable to hold and play. Very much a relief after
playing a Les Paul for an extended time. This is my first Jackson and I am super
happy about getting it. It is very close to the guitar he used on the 'Seventh Son..'
tour.....which is another reason I wanted it so much....always loved that guitar.

Welcome to the JCF, cool Jackson you picked up there of course. I have the Ebony board version myself. Everything is great about that guitar but I do have to see whats up with my tone control on mine. It doesn't seem to do anything no matter where it is turned
