Aww, man. I got it bad! After obtaining the RR1 Bengal and a well-used DK1 Snakeskin, I'm GAS-ing higher-end, custom finish axes. My next objective is a Soloist SL1 with some type of graphic finish, Floyd, 2 H/Active and if possible, an unfinished neck like the DK1's. Is this possible short of ordering custom shop?

An SL1 with 2H would be called an SL2H.
I don't see a problem in changing pickups to whatever you like, but AFAIK Jackson doesn't have any neck thru guitars with unfinished necks as a production model.
So yes, if you don't want to sand a neck down on your own this might end up as a custom order.

Gotcha. Appreciate the info. And just to make it REALLY hard to find- an unfinished neck with reverse headstock. Now, custom shop is all but unavoidable.

Or you could have someone tape it off, sand the neck and Seal with linseed or something.. Heard of that before.. they look quite good too..

I know a few guys that could do a killer job of refinishing a formerly painted neck. The challenge is finding a SL2H with a reverse headstock... and some cool graphics. I suppose I could also sand down the body and get custom paint on that as well. By that time I'd almost be up to the same cost as getting a CS SL2H...

Or just troll the want ads until something comes up. You'll wait 2 years for a custom order anyway.

Don't remind me. I got an order in for a CS Charvel Star that I'll be lucky to see in the next year...

There are unfinished necks in the USA neck through Production line, the Warrior is one.

Bummer. Not a fan of Warriors.

Here you go. It's HS instead of HH though.

I will say, you are probably better off staying on the "dinky path" if oiled necks and reverse hs are your thing.

Yeah, I know. And I do like DK1's. But how cool would a reverse hs SL1 be? Especially with graphics a little less pubescent than a stacked, half-naked gymnast assassin. LOL!!! Where there's a will (and bank account) there's a way.

This is close- a different color snakeskin and they'd have it sold... like, yesterday. http://www.guitarasylum.com/product_...keskin_01.html
