  • My heart is NOT broken !!!!!!

    Here it is:
I just hope I picked a good one. My first bass was crap, but I blame my brother on that LOL, he picked it out.
So I wasn't going to ask him about guitars even though he played one...I asked a professional and did a ton of research, now hopefully my judgement was ok...

It's active, 24 frets, um...pretty good finish on it...everything works. I need to get the locking nut but that's not a huge deal right now, I'll get one this weekend cos then it give me an excuse to bum around the shop some more hehe......my next save up will be for a practice amp. It'd probably sound funky on the bass amp LOL....
What can be told by the serial#? I'm wondering how old it is, it looks almost new, just a nick at the headstock.

That is a DKMG and a damn cool guitar.
Pick ups are EMGHZ's and passive not active but pull up on the third knob and it boosts the gain.
I had one in the same color.
    Probably a 2006
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Yeah, the active part is an EMG Afterburner. Pull up and adjust the gain boost up to 20db. It's the earlier version. 2006 and up have the 81/85 and 2 knobs. 2003 and earlier have the HZ's, AB, and 3 knobs. Don't know about 04-05 as haven't seen catalogs. Nice guitar!!

Oh, and I've played alot of guitars through bass amps. Throw a distortion pedal in front of the clean channel and try it out.

Bass amp should kick ass, I used bass amps in the 80's.
More wattage and more bottom end is a good thing!!

ahh see this is why im on this forum, i would have never thought about pulling the knob...you guys are awesome!! lol Let me first find my technique then I should be able to shred the hell out of it lol...

the store dude didnt even know about it. not that i blame him, they deal with a gazillion different things...

but im gonna get off here and go have some fun with it...it'll be way different getting used to a pick.

I need to Christen it with a new strap & a set of strap locks, but the strap I want will barely take locks...Im gonna make the store dude put the locks on the strap! (thats another story with my bass's strap...omg...)

oh last bit of curiosity, where were these made? not that it really matters, just wondering

I thought it was MiJ, lol one of the dudes at GC who is supposed to be in the "know" said it wasnt...

Ohhhh I know I like it...it's just a bit of a challenge to use a pick. If I finger pick, no problem but thats not how they're played. I'll get the hang of it. I pulled off a very slow, cos im not used to it, first few bars of Veteran of the Psychic Wars just to mess around, but I'll get the hang of it pretty quick...neck is very nice in hand.

The Afterburner (the '02 Jackson catalog called it a Turbocharger)..yeah big volume difference. I had the amp up to begin with then pulled the AB and WHOOPS! could have blown the speaker LOL!!!! or me go deaf...

I need to learn the chords and scales...

the nick at the headstock tip was actually the binding peeling from the wood, it got knocked enough the tip of the stock got a little chipped off, some gorilla glue and all is well. no worries. i love it...i got a good deal

Oh and now i want to add a Jackson bass to my low end herd. lol

Yeah, I guess they called it a turbocharger factory from jackson. The one you buy from EMG is called an Afterburner. Exact same thing.. But if you didn't notice yet, it is adjustable. When you pull it up, turn it CCW for less gain, CW for more (from 0 to +20db boost). All the way down should be no boost as far as I know.
