Oops, youre correct. I guess my point was a 22 fret 24.75'' scale will have closer fret spacing than a 22 fret 25.5''. So within the same scale length, 22, 24 is no different. Does affect neck pup placement though. Again, oops.

The only difference is the neck is mounted farther up the body so you can get access to the higher frets. I own both a 22 fret an 24 fret soloist and that is only difference I feel . The 22 is slightly more comfortable as the neck is a bit closer to your body . Less of a stretch for your arm .

I prefer 22 fret necks I like the way the guitar looks and the warmer tone out of the neck pickup .
Exactly, if the frets were spaced differently, the notes would be out of tune (more than they already are on guitar). If the scale is the same, the frets are the same distance apart, doesn't matter if it's 22/24/27/whatever frets. The only difference is the fretboard is extended toward the bridge and the new frets are added on, pushing the neck pickup toward the bridge. If fret access is not very good, they will push the entire neck/bridge/pickups etc etc out a bit, but the scale stays the same because everything moves the same amount. It's a bit more reach this way because the nut is now a bit further away from the body.

I don't have a big preference either way. I've got more guitars with 22 than 24 but that's just the way it worked out.

Anyhow I ended up getting a Jackson Fusion pro in 1994 as my first real guitar which has a similar short scaled neck (24 3/4").
luv my fusions as well. i got two, but just sold one. all charvel short scales and jackson professionals also play great.
