It may or may not work for you, but you wouldn't have modded the guitar and your volume knob would still be in place and usable when you actually wanted to.
Hate to be one of those set-in-my-ways, not-gonna-budge-type but I've been playing this way for 27 years (with no issues from any other make/model) and I don't see being willing to change. Hence the request for suggestions. I like Axewielder's suggestion or possibly Twitch's to put a smaller knob (though it still would be prone to being rolled off a bit), so until I hear better, I'll try those...

An RS super pot has more resistance in the sweep and if you bump it you won't roll down your vol as easily.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I always was annoyed by this as well but at that time, I only had import Jacksons (Alpha pots or equivalent). When I got my USA with CTS pots, I see that there's ALOT more resistance on turning the knob and I don't turn it down when I hit it while picking. You said you have Blackouts so I assume they're 25K pots from Duncan? I know the EMG pots I've had all turned as easily as the Alpha's so Maybe try replacing with CTS 25K's with smaller knobs?? It'll still be in the way some but won't turn as easy..

I'd like to find some push/pulls with more resistance to replace the Alphas I have on my other soloists..
