I was going to have a guitar made for me . I would like help on what the difference of a Gibson Firebird vs a Jackson Firebird is. I know Jackson will not make me a Bird. I just want to find the differnce in stlye and feel ,looks and dimensions are. should I go with the step in the middle or not. Thank you all for the help .

In a nutshell, body thickness (Jackson is thicker at 1 3/4 in the center and 1 1/2 in the wings, while Gibson is 1 1/2 or 1 5/8 in the center or thereabout) and the body shape itself is different from the Gibson version.

Not for me at the moment, because I'm not in the garage.
You can take a pic of the Gibson bird and put it on top of a pic the Jackson bird in photoshop and really see the differences, though.

The blue one is an import, which would add another different body shape to the mix.

The Jackson in this case is a bit of an oddball in that it's Gibson scale, whereas most were 25.5 scale.
