JT500 on the India models (first 2 years)

JT580 on the Jap models (2002+)

Yeah I meant DX10D. Im sure this one is after 2002. It has a licensed FR, but it doenst even say Jackson on it like most do. Doesnt say anything except the licensed part.

580s are easy to ID because the base plate is angled, see

I'd bet that it's an older one with JT500, because those didn't have Jackson stamped on them. They also weren't low-profile like the one pictured above.

The one pictured above is actually not low-profile... look at the longer pins coming out the back. That's a regular JT580 instead of the LP version. Though, a JT500 would look similar to what's pictured above, just a different baseplate and looking more like a Schaller/JT590. The Schaller and JT580 are both better than the JT500.

Yeah if it doesnt have a stamp on it then its a presumed jt500. Even on audiozone its not classified as the jt500 although it looks just like one. Made in india/indonesia.

Rob, you sure it wasnt the 580lp. Coulda swore it was. Didnt they stop puttin regular 580's on guitars by 2002 or am i wrong as usual.

The base plate is squared right or does it have angled wings? If its squared then its a jt500 and can be swapped with a jt590 or schaller trem. You can see the nonstamped trem here http://audiozone.dk/index-filer/TremoloInfoProject.htm. its about halfway down the page.

2001 - Made In India, so the trem should be the JT-500.

It is a JT-500 after comparing with the link JDR-94 posted.

                        Thanks for the info.

OUt of curiosity, what is it that makes one trem better than the other. Given Ive never paid that much attention to them, Ive heard some ppl say they like a particular trem over another one. To my untrained eye they all look similar. Are they made out of a different type of metal? Are the parts molded differently?
