Re: New Jackson Models and colors.

And Schecters sell, don't they?

That KV2T is great! GOOD JOB FENDER! The headstock AND inlays are perfect!

Ok fellas, after years and years of people snubbing Jacksons because they had pointy heads and sharkfins (and were too closely associated with those candy-ass Hair Farmers of the 80's) they're finally dropping their "tradition" to stay current - after all, the company was founded on innovation - and YOU GUYS are pissing about it?! Go play a fukkin ESP if you want "same old same old" dammit. How the hell can you people sit there and wonder why Jackson is being beat out on sales to ESP/Schecter/Ibenhad/Epiphony/PRS and THEN b!tch about the steps the company takes to compete in a market that STILL views Jackson as the Home Of Happy Hair Farmers?

Fender guys: Never fukkin mind, just go back to the old designs, no one here wants innovation.

Dude, I hope that post was sarcasm.... they've ruined the whole Jackson trademark with those "innovations" ...especially the King V.

And chances are, if you are looking to buy a King V, you sure as hell don't mind being associated with all that the trademark sharkfins and pointy headstock stand for!

Two thumbs down for the new inlays and headstock... BOO!

Re: New Jackson Models and colors.

Are the people that buy a schecter going to go for a KV now that it has an asymmetrical headstock and almost-block inlays? No. They're going to buy Schecters. I'm all for change, as long as it's "good" change: see the SLSMG, which I'd buy in a heartbeat if I had the cash. See also, interestingly, the new Fender models, which pull off the "innovation" factor better than Jackson ever will.

Hey hey. I want to know where these pictures came from. Are they real? I think the KV2T looks kind of just ok, but the inlays have to go.The SLS is a turd. As far as inovation goes. Why does Jackson have to change there headstock? Gibson and Fender have not changed there basic design. If they want to go forward that is fine, just don't forget the people who put Jackson on the map. Yeah I was a hair farmer. I'm proud to say so. I also have a bigger bank account than the 12 year olds Fender wants to bow too, and I will buy all I can if they keep it cool.

I think the KV2T looks pretty cool; probably trying to toss a bone to people
who cried over the Y2KV's demise, without
overtly pissing off Gibson. I think the
double fins look cool too!

Nothing wrong with being a hair farmer; I
am one still, just no longer an Aqua-net
farmer! Still, Jackson needs to try new models to see what sells. It's not like we have to buy it, nor will they stop making making the old models. If selling
100,000 SLSs allows them to keep making
Soloists I'm all for that!

I'm with Newc on this. The KV2T is sharp! I have a KV2 and a Y2KV and this would complete the trifecta!

Re: New Jackson Models and colors.

Umm ..the write-up on that SLS says fixed bridge but ..is that a fender hardtail on there? The nice thing about the old hardtails was they were made from heavy machined brass ..not the stamped steel like the fender hardtails ... ..

I think the SLS should have had a string-thru Tunomatic, but even with the Fender-style hardtail I definitely can see myself with one. I think the double sharkfins are cool, too...traditional in looks, but still innovative.

I don´t think I´d pick a SLS over a SLATQH, though. A SLATQH with the double sharkfins would be perfect

The new KV I can´t really comment on, since I don´t like V´s.

I dunno guys, I think that KV2T looks incredible, except that I'm in the minority in disliking TOMs in the first place. I don't care for the zebra pickup look, but I for one have always thought that the SLS headstock would look great on a KV or RR. Hell, if I was going to order a custom KV, I had always figured that I'd go with the SLS headstock. And if I was getting a custom Soloist, it'd be Stealth-style with the double inlays. The only think I don't like about the new SLS is the body binding and the pictured finish. If that's a string-thru hardtail, sign me up!

Re: New Jackson Models and colors.

The SLS Soloist is missing two frets!

I like the double sharkfin inlays, and the headstock isn't too bad, plus it's got straight string pull. I do think that headstock looks better on the V, though. The hardtail bridge is okay; though, I already have a Carvin and USA Fender with hardtails.
I've always preferred having a string-thru or stop tailpiece, as I like raking the strings behind the bridge like Zakk Wylde. Then again,I really like Floyds, too!

One thing Jackson should do is to offer choice of those inlays or sharkfins, and they should also offer a choice between the two different headstocks. Carvin offers four different headstock choices (standard 3+3, standard inline, reverse inline, and the V), not to mention choice of fingerboard wood (maple or ebony), MOP or abalone block inlays or dots, and they offer choice of hardware colors.
Just a thought Jackson should consider.

Hey hey. Here is what is on Jackson's site. Graveyard looks cool. The Bolted Steel WR1 is great as well.http://www.jacksonguitars.com/whatsh...rnamm2003.html

I personally think the Rhoads looks great with the SLS headstock... but then again, I own one like that...

Newc -

I was essentialy saying the same thing - it seems like they're trying to open up to the same market as the Schecters, et al. I like the KV2T, and a like a Soloist with that headstock - in fact, I own one.

Then again, the idea failed before with the AT1/AT2 and the orignial SLS, but maybe with a little better marketing...

Of course, I'd rather have a tunamatic that the flatmount fixed bridge, but it dosen't have seven strings on it, anyway, so I won't be buying it. For some strange reason, people seem to like those bridges. I don't understand it.
