Those are little Metal Birds that indicate how many times the Shredder/owner has stage dived with Guitar in hand and not snapped the Neck!!!

Are they like stickers? Woodburns? Things that are actually mounted on the head like badges or pins?
If they're solid, maybe they add mass to the head to increase sustain :pI want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Well Newc, you could tell if you knew something about it. If you don't, then you can't. Simple. Investigations have to start somewhere, right?
The guitar in question was one of Doug Aldrich's USA custom shop guitars from back in 1993 or 1994. He usually had shark teeth cut into the tip of the headstock, 4 upper and 6 lower, but not this one apparently. I do not have this guitar. I have the picture.
I have now asked the question on the official DA forum, but that forum is just about dead. Doug is reading it though, but not very often. Especially not at the moment due to a new WS album.

Yes, investigations do have to start somewhere, and while we here at the JCF have long prided ourselves on knowing some rather obscure facts, there are some things - especially as relates to specific Custom Shop details - that we're simply not privvy to. In this specific example, it does appear to be something Doug wanted on his guitar. Whether it's batshit, buggers, blood stains, or a couple of military service pins he found in a pawnshop in Brussels and hammered into it himself very poorly, we don't know. Since it's rather boring to say "I dont' know", you're going to get wise-ass answers.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
