Congrats Word. [img]graemlins/toast.gif[/img] And yes, try a new battery. You should be able to get good clean tones on it. I've gotten good cleans w/ any EMG equipped guitar I've had, not the absolute best clean, but very good. I know that when the battery starts to go though, the clean will distort badly and starts to really sound like a$$. Good luck and congrats again. [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

If you're getting a little distortion through the clean channel, either change your battery or make sure your cable is in all the way. I had a slight amount of distortion playing clean, and my volume/tone knobs would crackle a little when I got my first EMG-equipped guitar... the EMG jack is tight and I thought the first click I heard was enough and that it was all the way in. You need to push it in harder, make sure it's all the way in there. [img]graemlins/images/icons/wink.gif[/img]

you can use the clean channel, word. you just have to back off the volume a little. it will sound great. i use the double 81 myself on my jap RR1 and love it!

But, now when I have the cable a little out, I can put it on the neck pickup and turn the neck pickup volume knob to give it wah pedal kind of effect. Cool! [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
