I got my new Jackson SLAT3-6 today, and all I have to say is... I am home.
It is not a USA, and that is ok because I don't really care. It is hard to find what I want in the USA models (mainly ARCH TOP!) without ordering Custom shop or spending thousands too many. Plus I have been spending my bleeding life trying to replace my 1989 Charvel 750xl since it was stolen from me in 1994. So, Japanese works for me (if they are the more expensive japs).
Here is my story condensed: I started playing a Fender Strat (japanese) in junior high. Moved from there to a Wasburn. Brought the washburn to Florida in 1989 and sold it along with a Universal weight set that was like $1500. I walked into Music Arts Enterprises (music shop) in Ft Lauderdale, and I bought a see thru purple Charvel 750xl off the rack. got the case, some strings, and cable and picks... $1100 cash. Brought it home (MN) at the end of summer. Few months later get a call from my best friend tells me there was a Gibson Les Paul Custom for sale in a pawn shop for $400. I had to pay a adult (I was 16) twenty dollars to buy it for me. Now I have 2 REAL NICE guitars. Loved them both. Borrowed the Les Paul to a friends Uncle and it came back with a crack on back of neck by headstock. I had it repaired but it lost value to me. I traded it for a Cadillac after about 3 years owning it. Then a year later the Charvel was stolen. These were two of the best guitars I have ever played. To make a long story short, I bought a $120 guitar out of pawn shop (so I HAD a guitar) and played that for a few years as I traveled into alcoholism. Sold it along the way, and in 2002 I bought a Jackson Performer from a pawn shop after not having a guitar for a few years. It sucked. Wasnt bad for the price, but as far as Jacksons go, it stunk. I bought a Tradition in 2005 (PRS copy) real nice guitar made in Korea I think, but real nice craftmanship (still have it). Well to shorten the story a lil, I quit drinking. Sold the Performer got a good job and went on a hunt. A hunt to find a guitar like my Charvel (without having to buy a 750xl). I like Archtop guitars H H config, set neck, or neck through, abalone or binding, fret inlay, amoungst other things....
I have 2 Schecters: C1 classic and a C1 Elite.
I have and ESP LTD MH401 QMNT.
Tradition MTP 375
4 Fender Strats-2 Mexis, 2 USA (like to play blues also)
An Ibanez- I dont know what the hell (paid $80 bucks for it) has EMG 81/85 came with shark tooth neck? (My project)
Couple acoustics
4 tube amps -Marshall JCM 2000 DSL, Peavey Classic 50 212, Fender Twin Reverb Reissue, and a Crate V1512
Most of this stuff purchased in the 16 months since I have been sober. (work to play)
Today I got my USED (but frickin BRAND NEW, saved $450 off new)....
Jackson SLAT3-6 in Gun Metal Grey, I have been playing it for 2 hours, or so, and I LOVE IT! I want another 750xl, but this guitar is close, and will do just fine!! It is worth the $1300 they want new! Lemme get a pic up, and I will post picks of my other axes later as I get to know you guys.
Thanks for reading my life.
