  • Kelly or Soloist?

    After trying many guitars and being dissatisfied by how the feel either standing up or sitting down my question is;

Which guitar sits so that it's easier to play while standing up and sitting down?
    a Jackson ke2 or SL2H?

go with the soloist if you are looking for comfort, nicely balanced guitar

The soloist should be more comfy to play sitting down, but it won't have the speed neck profile of the Kelly. A good compromise might be a WR1. It will give you the features of the kelly, but in a more ergonomic package.

I don't think you can really beat the strat/dinky/soloist designs for ergonomics.

The Kelly is comfy sitting down or standing up.
For me I only like the 22 fret Kellys the 24 fret version feels too long neck wise.

Definitely the Soloist (and this is coming from a pointy fan).

I personally can't stand my Kelly sitting down. Standing up isn't that great either.

I've played a lot of Kellys. Only one was ever neck heavy...the one that was made in India.

However, I switched to Soloists exclusively, if that helps.
I only need one more guitar.

My Kelly is pretty heavy so there is no neck dive at all.
To cure that problem on the newer ones move the rear strap button up higher on the body like the USA's

No, I thought to cure the problem you route out the body and load it with lead?

I love them both, but I ended up with more soloist so they get used more.

They're not Jackson's, but a Parker Fly, Breadwinner and GKG Delta Wing are all more ergonomical.

Never cared for the upper horn on a Parker it jabs into me and is uncomfy as hell

Never sat down with either though I sold my SL2H and still have my modded Kelly Pro Std. No neck dive, 24 frets and looks great. It is a little heavier than some of my other shredders but I don't play the same guitar thru an entire show anyway.

I never felt right with my Kelly standing up - didn't matter how high or low it was on the strap it just didn't seem to feel right.
Sitting down it was fine though.

                              Get the Soloist.
