Re: NAMM pics

Scott,

That Warrior is a CS tribute to the Worthog plane. Kevin or someone can probably give you the whole sccop and history on the plane, but basically it was a WWII plane that would always get shot up and somehow return home, most of the time full of holes, so those 2 guitars are tributes to our Armed Forces in a couple of different ways.

Hope that helps!
Pat

Re: NAMM pics

Actually, it's a tribute to a cold-war plane - the A-10 "Thunderbird" II (there was a P47 T-Bird (1) in WW2, the one Pat referred to). It's a Close-Air-Support Plane, and pretty ****ing ugly, hence the name Warthog - but also because it usually flies very low in order to avoid detection, and because it couldn't hold itself in aerial combat.
Anyway, it sports about the largest gun ever carried by an aeroplane, the whole A10 is built around that gun (GAU-2 Avenger or something - you'll know why it has that name once you'll see it ). It's that gun with the uranium ammo everyone was *****ing about in Kosovo etc - that uranium also makes it very effective, 2 or 3 rounds and one tank is history. FYI, if the A10 would fire full auto without stopping, it would be unable to continue flying due to the recoil. Hehe.

The A-10 is in fact a tank buster. They are used for close ground support and they are supposed to be able to take an extraordinary amount of hits and still be able to fly. It was used extensively in both gulf wars and afganastan.

The Thunderbird is a Ford. Or it's the Air Force's precision flying team. (...Who fly F-16s, BTW.)

Yeah dudes. I knew the A10 Warthog was a plane. I just meant that I thought the graphic was nice and that it would have looked better on a full Warrior body.

Of course it's the Thunderbolt... well, for someone who's lost their interest for that subject matter about 3 years ago I think it was still pretty good. Apart from the name, of course.

Re: NAMM pics

The cannon on the A-10 is a 30mm GAU-8 Avenger (just to correct whoever said it was GAU-2). I used to be a real aviation enthusiast in my early-to-mid teenaged years before one interest replaced another (guitar replaced my passion for planes).

Fabulous pictures. The graveyard graphic is beautiful.
