  • Is It Just Me or....

It is just me or does anyone else belt the high E string of the bottom of the fingerboard on their Jackson/Charvel and the string gets caught under the neck pup?

It happens on my So-Cal and my San Dimas...

    Anyone else?

The neck may be slightly asque in the pocket. Try loosening the neck screws a bit and realign the neck so the E strings are even to thier edge of the fingerboard. Tighten the screws and all should be good. If the string is getting caught under the fret end. The neck is drying out and shrinking. The ends would need to be filed down smooth.

I would think the neck needs to be centered in the pocket.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

happens to me occasionally, after swinging off the whammy bar. It's great when you go to pick that next on the E string and find yourself swinging at air.

I put gaffa tape across the bottom of the pickup to stop it happening.

Steve Vai does the same on one of his White JEMs I noticed. He just uses some tape on the edge of the pickup to stop the strings from getting cuaght

The same did Doug Aldrich on all his Jacksons.

What were trying to say is, just use some tape!

You could always put pickup covers on there.

I was wondering whether or not to draw that conclusion but now you`ve convinced me, thanks!

                      I've never had that happen.

Then again, I'm not Steve Vai.

I have the opposite problem, kind of. When I play 12th fret or above on the low E, I have a tendency to wiggle it off the board, but it never gets stuck on the p/u, but then my neck p/us are level with the body or have covers. Concerning my high E, it doesnt get much use above the 8th fret, I bend up on the B to get notes above the 8th on the high E.
