  • Jackson / Charvel Star question

A friend of mine is looking into his options for a Star, the only one i can find for sale is the Gus G ones from LTD, I wanted to point him in the direction of Jackson / Charvel but I can't seem to find any deals who have them in stock. I'm guessing now it's a custom order only?

Whats the price range on them anyone know? I know the gus g is like 900 or something, i'm guessing a custom shop will be a hell of a lot more.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

A Charvel SD reissue star would be a good route to go but they don't pop up to often on EBay these days. Your friend might have to settle on options depending upon what he could find and how patient he is.

I believe GMW makes a star. They have a couple in their archives section. Base price for a bolt-on model is $1,200 but with that you get to choose all your specs including color, bridge type, pickup, neck profile, frets, etc. From the base model you can add or change specs which are all priced out on their website. Here's the link to their website if your friend wants to check them out. To me, this is one of the best options out there for a star. And if your firend wants to go with a graphic, Dan Lawrence does the graphic work for GMW so you know it will turn out killer.

I never liked the Gus Stars, the new ones at least, the horn looks... Off.

I've been looking into a Star as well. If your buddy is looking for a bit of a project, Warmoth sells bodies here. Just grab a compatible Charvel, or Jackson neck off the Bay (or elsewhere), some parts here and there, little paint and perhaps you build one for under a grand.

I've been GASing for a Star badly recently, got my mind set on ordering a neck and body from here: http://www.kneguitars.com/

Yeah their original designs are a little... goofy (that's me being nice ) but their bodies and necks look pretty good and the choice of routing options you get it is great too. Curious to try their unique neck profile. Anyone bought from here before?

Check out ebay. ESP/ Edwards make other stars besides the Gus G Model. I always found the Syu Crying star cool. They're about $1500 + shipping from Japan
