  • Ebay Score: Warrior Pro

I couldn't wait until it arrived to post this, I'm too excited... I bought a Warrior Pro on ebay for $970. I was afraid I'd get out bid, since I've seen these go for nearly $1200. Luckily the auction ended at a strange time of day when people probably weren't available to bid. I assume it won't ship until Tuesday May 31st because of the holiday weekend, the suspense is already killing me! I've had bad luck buying guitars on ebay in the past, so I really hope there are no surprises like a twisted neck (they do take returns though, just in case.). But aside from a few small dings and missing string locks for the nut, it looks REALLY clean. I don't like to count my chicks before they hatch, but I already have some cool wiring ideas and pickup combos in mind. I'm leaning toward DiMarzio FastTrack 2 bridge, Chopper middle, Air Norton S neck w/ 5-way super switch for strat sounds in position 2 and 4. And remove the JE-1500 and replace the JE-1500 on/off switch with a series/parallel switch for the Air Norton S neck pickup OR a phase switch for the Chopper middle pickup.

So wish me luck. And of course, I will post PICS as soon as she arrives!!!

until then, here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...XgnEj5kEk%253D

Thanks. I think they look best in white. I have a black one and it's a beast, I hope this white one plays just as well.

By the way, has anyone used the Fast Track 2, Super Distortion S or Tone Zone S? They all have pretty much the same specs, making it very hard to choose between them. I'm leaning toward the Fast Track 2 because it has a good reputation. I wish it had a little more treble though - I guess I'll use 1 Meg pots.

Looks killer! Would the Dimarzio custom shop make a hum to fit that route maybe?

I know Seymour Duncan does that, I don't know if DiMarzio does. Sounds expensive though.

Yeah, but I'm not sure how flexible they are. I had them custom build a standard pickup with an odd zebra color configuration one time.

                      Sup?

                      Nice score

You don't need to get a custom Pup made,, you can modify an existing P'up and P'up ring to work without adding any holes at all. I have an EMG 89 mounted in my 90 boltedsteel Namm warrior without any body mods at all. just have to mod the P'up and ring

Duncan makes these now, so it shouldn't be a big deal for them to do something similar for you.

Word of warning, there are lots of examples of warriors that get broken headstocks in shipping. The case looks like it has the extra block of padding in between the compartment and the lower horn, but I strongly suggest you ask the seller to use extra packing around the body to make sure the guitar won't be able to slide towards the headstock end of the case.

Here's pics of an EMG85 in my Pro. I removed the brass threaded insert and trimed down the mounting ears to get it to fit. Used wood screw direct to wood thru what was left of the hole in the ear:
