  • Final Q for the day, 24.75" scale models?

I found this thread, but nothing else that has a fairly conclusive list of 24.75" Jackson/Charvel models.

    http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/113...B+scale+models

Audiozone doesn't mention it, and even the catalog page for the 750XL doesn't (though it specifically mentions the 550xl at 25.5):

BTW, I'm trying to avoid them essentially. I ordered and just received a Carvin 22 fret CS model with a 24.75 scale and jumbo frets, totally squooshed down low. Medium frets might have resolved the issue though.

That thread mentions most that I can think of.

It didn't mention it, but the older Warriors (1991ish) were 24.75" scale, but the current Warriors are 25.5".

What seems odd is that if the 750xl has a 24.75, did the Jackson archtops have it? Crap man, there's no rhyme or reason for some of these designations!

All the 1990-1991 Warriors JAP and USA were 24.75" scale. I own 1 of each, plus 3 WR1's (25.5" scale, 2003+) and I don't have issues .

These were designed to compete against LP's; hence, the short scale length.

I thought the Morton was 25" like the Jazz'R? I could walk across the room and check, but it's sooooo farrrrrr

The KV2T is also 24 3/4" scale now, right? Or was it the originals? I can never remember

Not so much as compete with, but to offer players the Gibson scale length on a Strattish body.

The Mark Morton has 24 3/4", as do the current KV2T's.

The Y2KV has 25.5", and I'm sure the Scott Ian did as well. Well the new ones do.

It is. The specs say 24 3/4", but I did measure mine once and came up with 25", posted about it here, and people thought I was nuts.

Yes, to compete. The thick mahogany body? Set neck? Dual hums? You already have Fusions which offer a Gibson scale length on a strattish body. The 750XL came out at a time when GnR was hitting big time and the tide was turning from shredders back to LPs. The 750XL was designed to appeal to shredders wanting an LP style build.

Wow, this seems like a good chunk of their lineup!

Edit: Additionally, how tight must it get down at the 20-24th frets using that scale, or do they literally just shift the pickups, bridge, etc and keep the neck length? Either the Carvin I bought had extra extra mega ultra jumbo frets, or it's just tough down there, even with small fingers. Ok, that didn't really sound right...
