Premier Guitar/ Mike Shannon Interview

Cool article. Lots of cool pics from the inspection. I love the black and brass one!
It's funny how there's different stories floating around. This article says the tape is to protect the finish from buckle rash. I've always read it was so Randy could have the guitar flipped over on the dark stage for when Ozzy would appear "out of thin air". But when you see the tape on the back of the black one, the buckle rash thing makes more sense.GTWGITS! - RacerX

It was a very short interview but the photos were really the best part. Maybe with the Concord both reasons were true. It would have been win/win in both scenarios. He was able to be unseen entering the stage and also protect the finish. Mike did say Randy was really distraught about a chip in the finish. I thought Brodderick's little segment was interesting. How hard is it to work with stainless steel fret wire?____________________________________________

Looking forward to reading that article; I can never read enough Jackson history.
Stainless frets aren't as difficult as people make them out to be, IMO. The hardest part is cutting them; my hands are tired the day after cutting SS frets. That said, if you bend them to match the fretboard radius (instead of the traditional style of over bending), they drop right in and level nice and easy.
