I like the non-recessed too. More comfy for me being a little higher off the body.

Why the preference for recessed vs. non-recessed trem?

I prefer non-recessed myself. Actually my first real guitar was a recessed Floyd and I played that for years and years without really noticing a difference - and switching back and forth with a non-recessed and a TOM SG. So I had all the bases covered.
My last two guitars with recessed trems were a Ibanez RG 770DX and a Jackson Fusion. I don't have either anymore - coincidence? Maybe.
I don't think I would hesitate to get another RG with a recessed trem - they seem such an integral part of that guitar's design.-------------------------

I prefer a non-recessed , but, I have recently noticed that I prefer a recessed on a guitar that uses a pickguard such as a strat body.
The reason is that I can not get the pickups as close to the strings with a non-recessed without cutting the pickguard up and using a pickup ring to help elevate it.-Lou" I do not pay women for sex. I pay for them to leave after the sex ". -Wise words of Charlie Sheen
