  • Jackson Performer or Fusion Model?

I'm considering buying a Jackson guitar and can't tell if it's a Performer or Fusion Model. It has the small fret marker dots on the low E side of the FB, a reverse headstock, a trem recess with what could be an FR II-type trem or a Schaller trem, Jackson-branded humbuckers--a dual blade in the bridge pos--and vol and tone control with a three- or five-way switch. Also, the pups are direct mount--so it's a ringless setup. Color is metallic blue.

I've looked through some of the catalog scans and didn't find it. Anyone have an idea what model it might be? Sorry for the sketchy info... Any help would be appreciated.

    TIA

If it's a performer it should say it on the head. If it doesn't then it's probably not a performer.

    If it's a toggle selector then it's a 3-way and if it's a slide selector then it's a 5-way

Jackson used rail pups in the early 90's then stopped for whatever reason (I really liked those)

It sounds like a Fusion Pro to me, even though if it is a pro it should say "professional" on the head.

I think, that is a Dinky Reverse Professional.

Did DR3's come with fretboard dots? I already have a DR3 and mine has sharkfin inlays.

Hmm you might be right about that. It was the direct mounted pups that made me think dr3.

This would be my guess based on the description. Does it have a reverse headstock?

The DR3 had a toggle switch instead of the blade switch.

I also thought so since I have one of those, however I believe it should say professional on the headstock!

Yes, it has a reverse HS.

                      Yep, my DR3 does, too.

From your initial description, I believe you have a Dinky Pro. Does your guitar look like the black one shown in this link?:

BTW, Fusions didn't have reversed headstocks AFAIK, plus they had shorter neck scale 24.75", and the string tension is less obvious.

Toe said "The DR3 had a toggle switch instead of the blade switch."

Ha, so does mine! LOL. I also have a dinky reverse with the blade switch, direct mount pups and the blade humbucker too! I must have seriously mixed these 2 up in my head. My reverse has a maple neck and does not say anything on the truss rod cover like most do.

The one I might buy looks a lot like the black one in the link you posted! The description mentions a bound neck, but I can't tell if it has one from the catalog pic.

                            Thanks guys.

I think the description is probably not totally accurate there, since I don't recall bounded necks with reversed headstocks were installed on those pros in that era. Unless the guitar you're referring to was made right after the pro series!

Any additional help from the Jackson gurus around would be much appreciated...
