  • Why are there so many new Charvel necks and bodies for sale on ebay?

Is some dealer parting out overstock because it's worth more in parts and easier to sell? The necks are not stamped used so it's not like someone is parting out B stock guitars. I could understand a few necks and bodies for sale here and there but there are a ton of them, including loaded pickguards, pickups, and trems and they are described as mint or like new. Weird.

Its mostly that reliablefender guy. I dont know where he gets his guitars from that he parts out. He must have a lot of money tied up in guitars though.

I was wondering about this also as I was lusting over a San Dimas neck.

Funny thing is, if you go to the DHGate website (Kind of a Chinese Ebay like platform for manufacturers, wholesalers and resellers of counterfeit goods) and type in Charvel etc, as a search word, the photos of the necks are identical to the photos of the San Dimas necks he is selling, background and everything. Now this could just be a stock photo that was blagged by the Chinaman, or perhaps his necks could be fakes, or even it might be that Made In Japan San Dimas necks could actually be outsourced and made in China, as on the DHGate website, they are not cheap, even for chinese standards.

I'm pretty sure the Chinese site is just using someone else's photos.

And the reason you see so many is because many people simply want the necks and not the bodies, or the bodies and not the necks. Though I do wish the parts-mongers would wise up and include the complete locking nut with each neck, and all the body-related parts with the bodies (i.e. trem posts, cavity plates, screws, trem claw, etc).

Can't believe some of these people are asking $25 for $10 accessories.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

That's how they (reliablefender) get you. You buy a SoCal body for $300 and you want the "authentic" pickguard, which is only available in an auction, so you and 5 other guys who bought a SoCal are fighting over it.

Remember the $80 neck plates? Oooh, a collectible Charvel neck plate from a mass-produced budget guitar, totally worth $80 fucking dollars.

Everyone knows the Fort Worth factory made the best guitars anyway!

I did find a supplier on Alibaba.com that sells So Cal necks which is notorious for Chinese fakes so now I'd be very cautious to buy one on ebay....although you do see some necks and bodies that do look like they were removed which may indicate they were real. For instance, I dont think someone would sell a like new counterfeit neck with marks on it indicating the tuners were parted out.

Agree about the caution, although I'm tempted for $200 odd on a bid. But they are Japan ones not USA. Have a look here:

                    DHgate.com...

Hang on a minute...all the Charvels have dissapeared? Are the overlords listening in?

                    Spooky!

I'm inclined to agree that he rips guitars apart, knowing full well he'll get twice as much for them in parts. A trade/production seller on DHgate in China was selling Jap necks with an identical photo as the Mr ReliableFenderBender. However, often the chinese factory sellers will do that, I mean use a real photo ripped off and then supply you goods, which look similar but are substandard and are no way a straight clone or copy as the photo would depict.

Anyway £299 for a Jap neck? I'd rather have a used USA guitar myself for a few dollars more.

Back to the DHgate site - you can get some killer Les Paul clones on there, ebony boards, one peice mahogany necks and mahogany bodies, no scarfed maple and killer flametops. Now the best factories are binding over the frets as well. Although the hardware is all junk, so if you replaced that..... God bless the chinese eh!

How about this for a RR5? Even print the pickup covers and everything. Bless 'em! they'll all be dying of isocyanate poisoning by the time they get forty, poor bastards.

Found the page that did have the 'MIJ San Dimas' necks on it:

The necks have been pulled...the overlords are watching obviously.

Sod all they can do though unfortunately, what with China having no copyright laws and owning the US, the UK and most of the rest of the world....

Just a thought...Has anyone bought from Mr Reliable? Maybe he's pulling counterfeit guitars apart?

I picked up a Mexican Standard Strat neck as well as a brand new Mexican Strat body factory routed for a Floyd from him about a year ago. The items were genuine Fender parts.

That RR5 looks horrible in my opinion.

Sorry misread that as 'Genuine Fender Parts are horrible'

Good to know. Yeah I don't see the attraction with the fakes at all. It is horrible!

I know, and that control cavity. I dont think any of those parts could be passed off as real on ebay.
