If the blades go all the way through the bobbin, simply push them up a tad. You could also shim them slightly if you needed to.
As for the switch tip, if it's a really fat/wide handle on the switch, you'll have to dig around to find a tip with that wide of a cut. Only place I've ever seen them was on a Jackson Special 5-way switch.
I'd say skip the "period correct" and get a more modern switch.
