  • Score: Fusion XL + my first Jackson Stars (pics)

It's been a good couple of weeks. I found a sunburst Fusion XL and then grabbed a silver Jackson Stars KV-J2E on ebay (came all the way from a store in Japan in a little over 48 hours!) The KV has two EMG 81 pickups, the emg logo is imprinted but has no paint (is that an OEM thing or just worn off?). The EMGs will probably go, I'm not into the active thing. I'm thinking of putting a rail/blade pickup in the neck position of the KV, I always liked the look of Bill Lawrence in the old MIJ Mustaine KV.

    (yes, that's a KE1-F on the side)

    prepare to be jealous...

Well, I'm very jealous already! You even scored that Warrior not too long ago, you're on a roll aren't you?
And just having that gorgeous KE1 alone should make you a very proud Jackson owner. Congratulations.

Thanks. Yeah, I am on a roll... a little too much of a roll (I'm running low on space and cash). I'm like a crack addict. I need to sell a couple guitars on ebay soon. Maybe if I had a girlfriend, I wouldn't obsess over my guitars so much

As for the Pro, Nimitz, the serial number on the warrior pro is J000579. serial number on the fusion xl is 210440.

Nice scores! Curious about the place you got this from in Japan. How does that work to get it to my grubby hands?

            Well, there's Ishibashi:

Yup, I got mine from Ishibashi on ebay. They answered my questions really quickly, sent me a tracking number and shipped super fast. I was nervous about buying from another country, but they were awesome. They even assured me the guitar wasn't radio active due to the meltdown.

Very nice! Is that an ebony board on the KV?

Yes, it's ebony. It's listed as "striped ebony" on the spec sheet. It has the texture of ebony, but it's not uniformly black like on my Pro and USA Jacksons. I may hit it up with some ebony dye.

LOL, that should be the least of your worries, however, it could be fun to lit up while playing in the dark! Bzzzzt!

                      Nice collection.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Cool. A lot of ebony is usually kinda striped and a most manufacturers dye it. I think the striped ebony looks pretty neat when it's uniform and not just little stripes here and there.

Did you just hit them up for that one? or was it an in stock purchase? I have been thinking about an rr24 with those piranha inlay and TOM string thru they have on the Stars page.

How's the Fusion feel with the shorter gibson scale length and the 12-16" radius (I presume?) scale length?

Bit different sounding and looser feeling to most Jacksons isn't it? That's like a BC Rich of Jackson's.

Wish I had straight walls I could hang my guitar on, they are all pitched...
