  • Jackson? ID, Please

    Hey guys:

Any of you recognize this as a Jackson? If so, any idea of the model? Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure that's just a mutt, but I'm not totally familiar with imports..

Rare is not the same as valuable

Thanks Neilli - Found out the neck says it's made in India (?), so I pretty much lost interest. I was more interested in whether or not it was just some strat-like body with a Jackson neck bolted on.

For $250, it was unlikely to be anything too special. Bargains are out there though

That does look a lot like a JS30DKT neck on a Strat body.

You might have inadvertently justed helped me out! I'm looking for a Jackson with a 2 and 3/16" neck pocket so I can use the neck for my project Star.

I was told that some of the Made in India guitars have a 2 and 3/16" pocket, rather than the standard 2 and a quarter, but I don't know for sure if that includes the JS Dinkys or not, I thought it was just the Made in India X series around 99-2001 before production moved to Japan. If its true then some, at least, of the JS series necks should just bolt up with a Strat body as they'll have 22 frets.

You never know, the cost savings on the logistics and handling of transporting maple that is 1/16" narrower and lighter, spun out over three years just might add up. I'm sure Jackson have done the sums eh!

Funny thing is that you never see a Dinky body with a Vintage 7.5" radius Fender neck though...I look forward to seeing that one

Time to start harrassing the Ebay JS series sellers for 22 fret neck width measurements I reckon! - Poor sods!

Don't worry mate, soon the penny will drop that if I spent all the wasted time trolling on here and ebay working, I might actually be able to afford a Warmoth neck and I'II calm down. Hell I probably just route the body myself in the end anyway, its only 1/32" either side.

Just I like to be able to put this one its its box. I think my mission started because there is so much sweeping 'Authoritative' misinformation out there on which Jackson models have the smaller pockets....perhaps it will just remain a mystery and I should abort.

...Thing that bugs me though, if these people on Ebay aren't pro tradespeople like myself who aren't familiar with how to use their measuring tapes properly, then possibly, maybe, there is a 1/16" margin of error in there somewhere...surely?
