  • Jackson RR EXPERTS NEEDED... 6 digit ser#

Hey Everyone - Im a guitar enthusiast but a Jackson noob.

I came across a RR1 (?) at a yard sale and bought it. I had no idea what it was really, it just looked cool. Ive done a bunch of research BUT cant seem to see if Jackson ever put out a RR with a 6 digit ser# with no lettering in front of the #s on the last fret.

Its white and black with Gold knobs and BH-1993 under the bridge on the body. The bridge can be adjusted and there are 2 legit Seymour Duncan pick - ups on the thing that check out as real.

What do I have?? Its almost identical to this one on eBay. What should I actually get for it and do I have a pre fender Jackson on my hands??

It's a Japanese built RR5, NOT an RR1. Probably built in 1993, full serial number could help nail it down. RR5's are not rare or uncommon. They are built in the same place before and after the Fender purchase of Jackson so there is no difference in quality. Checking completed auctions on RR5's should give you an idea on price but you haven't won a lottery or anything. You are probably looking at $400-$750 depending on condition and whether you have a case.

Just a regular run of the mill RR5. A lot more common than a real RR1.

            Response

Hey Guys - Thanks a bunch for all the information you provided. Why is it that the Serial # databases for this guitar model (RR5) are hard to find??

Anyway - the Serial # is 063384 or something of that nature. Im almost positve it starts with a 0 though... I do not have the guitar in front of me. Any more information anyone could provide would be EXCELLENT.

If you're referring to Jacksons database, it's because they only cover USA models.

were they making RR5s in '93? That's back in the Professional era.

The database is for US guitars only. Dating MIJ guitars is by people on this forum comparing each other's guitars serial number to the date when they bought it to get an idea of the date it was made.

I didn't think so but I couldn't figure out why else that date would be written under the bridge. Unless he meant that was cast into the bridge itself. Plus I knew somebody that knew better would be around to correct my F-up eventually.

it may not be a date. Might just be a part or model number

Yup, thats why a serial number is always the best.

Sorry, I focus on the USA's because I'm snobby like that.
