Doesn't anyone buy Jacksons just to play them anymore?

I buy mine with the intent to play them. Usually I buy one that I feel will plug a certain hole in our set. However the problem with buying on Ebay as I pretty much have to do since my local Guitar Center is the only Jackson dealer and all they will ever stock is a couple of JSs is that you never know what you are going to get. My SL2H while a great guitar just didn't feel right. My last DK1 again while a great guitar just didn't feel right. The SL1 I have is probably the finest instrument I have ever touched so perhaps it has seriously jaded me toward other Jacksons. I don't know. Anyway I got rid of those two not because they sucked but because they didn't fit me. I have another DK1 now that feels much better to me. Anyway while it may look like I am buying and selling just for the sake of buying and selling there is a definite musical reason behind it.

    2002 Candy Apple Green DK1
    2008 Satin Black SL3
    2011 Charvel Socal Candy Red
2010 Les Paul Standard Plus Cherry Burst

I wouldn't drill a hole it it, i did on mine and the stains seriously lower the resale value

      (lol)
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

I play the sh1t out of mine. Owning a guitar just for value is just wrong to me. I say play and use those collections, or just quit and let us get them without the gready f#$%in investors driving up prices on USED guitars. Enough already!
With another projected 1.2 million arts based jobs to go the way of the dinosour by 2015, I say stop killing music with business.

Yeah I wish these guys would just let it ride with a $1 opening bid. Nobody does that anymore. Everyone puts a big-ass BIN on their auctions based on some shoddy appraisal or "swing for the fences" mentality. There is some value to the JCF's collective skill in appraising, and wherever there is value there will be people trying to exploit it for personal gain. Those threads bore me, that's really the worst part about it.

I bought mine because it was the closest thing to a Model series Charvel I could find, new. Not selling.

I'm wondering how much I can sell my 91 Gibson Les Paul Custom for, and how many more Jacksons or Charvels I can buy with the cash?

I just bought 2 Jacksons, a 1990 Soloist and a 96 Dinky. I came close to buying another one earlier today... Since buying my old Charvel 475 Special back in 2001, my LP has been collecting dust

                Based on UK prices:

                3,234 x Jackson PS3's
                9 x Jackson JS20's

                or,

                1.3 x Jackson RR1

I buy guitars for a number of reasons. They are awesome, they look cool, they are still the best instrument. I play the shit out of 'guitars' in general but once you hit the teens in your main group none really get center of attention. Everytime I pick up a j/c though it returns me to the belief that they're the best fucking guitars on the planet. Everything I need, whenever I strap it on. Dependable. Expendable. Bendable. Obtainable...Stretchable? Malleable? Table?

                  What?

I just got my first Jackson rr3 and I love it. Being a bass player first, I now have 4 guitars and don't plan on selling any of them. Basses on the other hand are just like power tools use them abuse them and get another one when you need to. I bought my rr3 from a mega .net store at a reduced price as a return in near new condition. Crazy but I f*** love it, its like having an under age chick (not like I ever did that ) . Sounds great and looks great , why sell it?

                          Talk about a derail:

The main issue was about people just popping in to ask for a dollar value so they can sell their guitar, not who buys and sells and why.

IMO this board doesn't need people who aren't interested in these guitars, and if they don't like Jacksons, then I'm not going to waste my time changing their mind. They'll walk the same well-worn road everyone else did and when they grow up they'll come right back to Jacksons and say "wow, I never realized I've been playing stringed turds all these years!" just like most of us did.

So just point them to the most recent Ebay Completed Listings and drop the "$400" running gag and wish them a merry life and let's get back to loving our own guitars.

And no, you don't have to study market trends and completed listing fluctuations. Whatever the last one that's just like yours sold for in open bidding is usually what yours will go for. Fluke BINS do NOT count, nor do shills ($1700 for a Model 6).
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

Whilst I agree with your middle paragraph and wholely condone your second Avatar line, I see nothing wrong with an interlude dedicated to under age chicks withing these in depth discussions. although perhaps over age chicks might be more appropriate? The only competition with jackson/Charvels, in my opinion is '80's Kramers. However with such a huge disparity in pricing and an additional 40% tax + middle men fees in the UK alone and worse to expect in Scandinavian countries like Norway and Denmark, a little subtle guidance doesn't go astray every now and then. However I am willing to concede, that if you can't help yourself, then there probably isn't much hope in the long run anyways, and with all the vast amount of information available on the internet at the push of a button, there really is no excuse, so probably I am making excuses. Finally I am willing to accept that server space doesn't come for free, so where do I make my donations payable to so I can take time to talk about under age chicks?

The truth be told if I did have a bad one (Like an former owner abused jackson) I personally couldn't bring myself to tack it up and pass it on, it would just end up as lost money in the parts box. As else, the next guy will have all the problems I've bought into, and that is just not right IMO. However if you are selling a lower model for your dream guitar, then trying every trick for the best price isn't sinful in a society that is built upon free market capitalism.

Jackson/Charvel do the best in their field, however there are zillions of other guitar manufacturers that forfill an equally large niche, like Gibsons for example and I wouldn't ever comptemplate trading a Les Paul for a Jackson Fusion.

Each to their own in my opinion. But I will admit that a forum filled with rich, inter personal experience and textual exchange about the workings and experince of these great guitars would be a better place to be than a cattle market of Dollars that only get worse with exponential google hits.

Still I see nothing wrong with a little underage chick humour from time to time...
