  • NOS Bridge?

I've been looking at a lot of retro-style Charvel guitars lately, more specifically the Pre Pro and Legacy Series guitars and I was wondering, how does the NOS brass bridge work? I'm probably wrong, but I assume it's all brass. Wouldn't that be too soft to make a whole bridge? Wouldn't it wear easily at the 6 contact points? Also, how is it as far as tuning stability? I imagine the phenolic nut on these guitars would help some, but I'm not sure that the bridge could hold tuning as well as a more modern vibrato. Lastly, does it sound "better" than a traditional Floyd? I can't just go out and try one, I had a hard enough time finding my guitar. Any feedback is appreciated.

Brass is hard enough to hold up well. I've actually made the hardtail plates true to the originals. I have several brass hardtails and they are fine
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

They work best with 5 springs and the 6 screws nice and just-barely-snug, and the bar stays in the case IMO.

Tone wise I don't know, I don't have a brass one. But I do think my 6-screw guitars sound a little fuller than my Floyd'ed guitars.
