3DR vs. Predator

Are these basically the same guitar (is the 3DR the pre-Predator?) or are there substantial differences. The only difference I can see is different pups.

different neck pickup, 3dr neck is a little thicker, 3dr has a non recessed jt6 with a pullup route and the predator is a recessed schaller.

Also, my 3dr has the proper kahler locknut, the predator has a normal floyd locknut. I dont know if all 3drs have the kahler locknut or if some have the stringlock like all the other model series do. Also predator has the sculpted round cutout around the neckplate like jacksons do, 3dr does not.

The Predator also has a slight cut-out at the neck joint to make that part of the body a bit thinner.

Thanks for the info. I was watching a 3dr on eBay and wasnt sure it I'd be buying a guitar just like my Predator. I know it was stated the 3dr's neck was thicker, but as far as necks go is the 3dr comparable to the Predator (or better) playability wise? I really like the neck on my Predator. Its not as thin as some of my Jacksons, but not as thick as my S2 2H, which plays nice for a thicker neck.

My predator doesnt have the original neck but it is a toothpaste logo neck. It seems very similar to my 3drs neck.

there are various small differences btn the two models but if you already have a predator, and if you're looking for another guitar for variation, then i think you should look elsewhere.... they're too similar IMHO.

there are other japan made charvel models that will offer variation in feel and tone. just my .02 cents.
