  • if you had a golden ticket to the custom shop...

Hey guys, for a bit of fun and dream factor, if you had a golden ticket to the jackson custom shop, what would you build and why? are there any characteristics of the standard jackson that you dont like and would like to swap out? why? what would be the ultimate jackson?

for me it would be a rr (my favorite shape), in trans black, I would have tone/volume/toggle switch configuration like the les pauls, and i would have the toggle switch up the top, I would probaly have the knobs a bit further down if possible cause i keep on hitting them. thats all i can think of for now.

in terms of body, how do you think a maple or mahogany body would sounds compared to a alder? which locking trem would be best to go in there? what about pickups? i quite like the sound of the sd livewire mustaines, how do you think they would sound in a rr1?

for me it would be possibly a mahogony rr1, with sd livewire, and lp config knobs and toggle, with the toggle up the top, oh a bow tie inlays would be cool lol how do you think that would sound?

how about you? what would you build?

    Warrior bass
    Reverse head
3+1 tuning gear format (the 3 on the bottom) so the head doesn't look so stretched and odd to me
    bass humbucker pups

For guitars Jackson has pretty much made everything I'd like which is why I would opt for a nice bass they've never made before.

Maple should sound just about the same; maybe a tad brighter. Mahogany will sound a little muddier and richer while being noticably heavier. The Floyd titaniun would probably be the best locking bridge you can get. As far as pups go I wouldn't do actives. Personally I don't like their sound and lack of versatility. But hey lots of people do like them, so more power to you if that's what you want. I'd go with an X2N Dimarzio in the neck and a burstbucker or some other smoother warmer passive in the neck to add a more defined difference in between the two pups.

I mucked around with custom shop generator last night and has some awesome fun with it.

for me it would be a mahogany rr1 flame maple top and headstock, trans black. 24 fret neck ebony board it would have abalone bowtie inlays and abalone jackson logo, i would want the 3+3 triangular headstock like on the chris broderick models- whats the exact name for that style of headstock? i would go with the tom bridge and the lp knob and switch config witht he switch up the top behind the nexk and the knobs right down the end of the lower wing. for electronics i would go with the duncan livewire mustaine.

how do you think that would sound? has anyone played a mahog rr1 before? do you think a mahog body, ebony board and tom bridge with livewires would sound too muddy or is it going to growl!? how do you think it would sound?

would jackson custom shop do the abalone bowtie inlays? i herd somewhere that they dont like to do inlays that look similar to artists models? would they also do the switch and knob config as it is very similar to the rhoads custom shops? will they also put whatever pickups in there i.e- livewires?

thanks for the help, im just in the prelimilary stages of getting a order for a custom

The 3x3 head is the SLS headstock.

For me it would be another WarAngel, but with 2 SD JBJrs in the bridge, an on-board gain booster, and a Sustainer, all wired straight to the jack. No switch, no knobs, always on and very fucking loud

                          Or a Floyded solidbody Jazz'R.

Or that NAMM '04 goldtop Kelly with the "trapezium" inlays, stopbar/tom, and body binding

Or Megan Fox in Jenna's next movie. Whatever.

are custom shop able to provide any hardware avaliable on the market? i.e- if i wanted grover tuners, livewire pickups, straplocks? would they be happy to do that for me? or custom electronics/wiring etc?

Yup, they can do any hardware and wiring. You might have to provide a wiring diagram and/or the components, and unique hardware (i.e. bigass brassblock for the floyd, etc).
