  • What have you had? What have you sold?

Reminiscing since the new year is upon us, and we're all going to die in 2012 anyway lol so I've been thinking of guitars come and gone.

I started Jackson with a trans blue DR3 and quickly got a pearl white KV4 ... sold both to get two USA SL1s, one in trans blue and one in trans amber

Then onto a Y2KV in HRF, KE1T in cherry sunburst quilt (I think), XTRR in snakeskin, DXMG in black ...

Wasn't that good of a guitar player back then, didn't really know what I had, experimented a lot with different guitars but wound up selling to buy others over and over again ... a learning process I guess.

    Had a blue bengal SL2H.

Moved on to the import models for awhile. Had several DK2s in HRF and several DXMGs. Had the DK2LE when it came out. Got a DK1 with EMGs in blue ghost flames. Even picked up a couple of the Barney purple DK2Ss.

Had one of the Charvel Traditional models.

Then when the new Charvels came out, I owned a red and black one (Sand Dimas 2 hum) ... sold those and now have ...

black and white Japanese San Dimas models, which I really dig.

Not including several Fender strats, a Kramer, a Hamer, and a Washburn, and quite a few Carvins (got one on the way right now, in fact).

Overall, I think for Jacksons the XTRR was my favorite but I had to sell it to pay the rent. Coming in second, I loved my DK2 models. I always felt they played better than the USA Jacksons I owned, except for the XTRR, which was just an insane guitar.

But now I think I'm more of a Charvel player. The San Dimas Japanese models are just awesome quality and a great representation of what a guitar is supposed to be.

I buy, and almost never sell. The last guitar I sold was in 2005, a 1979 SG I bought on ebay for $650 and sold for $1350. Before that, I can't even remember selling unless you go back to the 80s. I keep the details of what I have on a spreadsheet. I find that sometimes it takes a while until I "discover" a guitar. Case in point, I've had a new MIM Strat since 1996. Never really play it because of the small vintage frets and single coils don't do metal. I pulled it out the other day and totally fell in love with it. Was playing Rush, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Rainbow, etc. Even cranking up the gain it was doing Maiden real well. I can't figure it out - poplar body, ceramic singles, thin cheap trem block, but it just sounds fantastic.

I bought a Charvel Fusion Deluxe from 84sups and sold it to axmann... he just wanted it more.

      Good guys both of them.

I've seen 1 amber quilt KE1T. By chance is this the one you have/had? I've been keeping my eye out for this one.

I wanted a Roswell for years and finally scored one for 400 bucks on eBay. Got it and instantly hated it.
Too light and the sound was terrible too. Couldn't sell it fast enough. Sold it for 650. To date it is the only Jackson I've ever played that I hated. I've bought and sold over 20 Jackson (probably closer to 30). Right now I have 7.

I have no idea. I know it was a limited run. Thought i could get away from floyds but realized quickly that wasnt going to happen. I know i sold it in 2002 if that helps.

I dont sell much these days. I bought some dumb shit in the early days and learned quick.

                I had and sold:

Ibanez RG450 2 of them. one in black, and one in chartruese fishing lure green-yellow.
                Fender M80 2x12 chorus
Washburn soloist wannabee with a wonderbar
Washburn Mercury series (this was a real turd mobile)
Charvel model 3 (sold to my best friend recently)
Jackson USA pink crackle strat (axewielder has this one now)

thats about all I can think of now.

I've had and sold maybe 20 guitars in my six-seven years of playing (no custom shop or USA models, cheaper ones!) and I've trimmed the collection to three: 1990 Soloist Professional, 1990 Randy Rhoads Professional and a 2010 King V 5 FR.
But the two Jacksons that I've sold were a 2006 COW model (seriously that wasn't that much of a shred guitar) and a 1994 Dinky XL Professional.

                  Happy new year everyone!

Too many to even venture a guess.
Kept the ones that spoke to me so I have maybe 30 or so I rotate playing.
My USA L.P. gets lots of playing time as does my Greco L.P.
Last week it was mutt week so all the mutts came out for a spin.
Next week it may be Jacksons or Fenders who knows.
                        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I usually only sell when I either have too many of one model, or found something I really like and dont have the cash for it. Latley Ive been moving towards USA guitars. The only one I regret selling was a trans black SL1. Was my first USA guitar, picked it up cheap used at Sam Ash. Ended up selling it to pay for my Chlorine SL2H. I still miss that guitar, and I found who owns it, hopefully when theyre ready to sell theyll call me. Thats the only guitar Id like to get back.

What he said right there. I don't have many these days, either... But I still have too many great guitars to miss any of the ones I don't have anymore.

I'm the same way. The last guitar I sold was Charvel Model 5a, and I spent some of the money on a B.C. Rich that I still have and love to this day. That was in 2010

                              I currently own:
                              1988 Charvel Model 4
                              2008 Jackson RR3
                              1992 B.C. Rich N.J. Series ST-III
                              2003 Ibanez Prestige RG1570 (My #1 guitar)
1990 Ibanez RG770 (very rare options on this bad boy, my work horse for bands)

                              Guitars I once had:
                              Dean ML "Dime Slime"
                              1988 B.C. Rich N.J. Series ST-III
                              1988 Charvel Model 5a
ESP LTD M-50 (My first guitar, greatly wish I didn't sell it... But I was desperate for money at the time.)
