I guess I am. I think I must have remembered some early threads that were speculating China.

Or they simply decided to move their entire production to low-paying countries, effectively killing Chushin in the process

I don't really see a reason for that, why would Fender wait that long before stopping their Japanese production?

Because they were waiting for a contract to finish, and didn't want to renew? Doesn't seem like an implausible theory to me.

Or they had to wait for the public/sales reaction to MiC guitars to be profitable

IIRC correctly, they (AMIC in this case) once before tried to move production (to India/Korea, memory is vague), but retracted because the japanese managed to lower their productioncosts

Yeah, you're right, guess it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the radiation leaks and massive power outages in Japan.

Now we know why the new promod is in limited numbers and isn't being called the next wild card.

Have Charvel said that the promod line is limited now?

So when is JCMI going to go public with this pending doom of affordable high quality guitars? The Chinese Charvels are decent but are no where near the quality of the Japanese models.

the new flame promod that usually is called the wild card, bionic has said it has limited numbers. If you look at the NAMM pictures there are no promods. Same with the Jackson Japanese models, none.

Hmm i've seen some of the elite guitars and they are made in Japan, but ok, i think there were none of the Pro-and MG-series.

From what i've heard, it's not clear if the whole elite series is a limited run or only several with "exclusive" colorschemes are limited.
