I got an answer from Jackson this morning, sadly it's bad news.
"Sorry but yes, those models are discontinued."

That would be a shame if true. Jap J/Cs were always the benchmark for me. I'll be damned if I settle for what I consider to be inferior US made guitars.

I don't think so, actually - I think whoever builds the Japanese Fenders was building these. After all, the USA line was built on the Fender line, not Jackson's - that was one reason they moved them to Japan. That's not quit true. and the usa jackson are made in the fender factory too. the japanese promod are made in the same factory as the jacksons.

This really blows. The quality of my Japanese DK2 is on par with my USA Fender Strat. This is horrible news for the employees and consumers.

It seems that no one in an official capacity wants to comment on this subject?

After all, it was important enough for Marty Friedman to auction every single one of his Jacksons, 100% for Japan relief. First time it's hit home for me though :'(

The underlying issue here is the condition of the country as a whole right now. Many areas there are still recovering from the disasters and still don't even have power. Restructuring can't fix that.

So it will be Chinese and Indonesian imports from here on. Isn't it possible that the company will simply go through a reorganization?
