Could be shipping out guitars that were finished already or salvaged and finished in another facility. It's just a guess and honestly we don't have official confirmation of the closing yet.

Hmm, i recognized that too. In germany a lot of models (for example DKMG, WRMG, SLSMG, RR5FR, ... ) aren't available anymore or are at least selling off, so some models are/were available at very low prices.
I was hoping that the reason for this could be, that these are going to be replaced by new models.

But something seems strange: Who builds those new Elite-Series models? Aren't they made in japan?

Check out a USD to YEN chart.

Then imagine a manufacturer who 2 years ago got 1,000Y for thier product, but today gets 750Y for that same product (because the price we pay in US dollars stayed about the same). But the manufacturer's costs did not become less, and in fact they have probably risen at the very least with commodity prices. It's difficult for any manufacturer to overcome a one-way change in exchange rate like that.

Conversely, a USA Jackson will have become that much more affordable in Japan now. So they can rock just a little harder now.

Oh, yeah - forgot the point of the thread. Check out the Euro to Yen, or Krona to Yen. Same deal.

Damn, I"ll never be able to afford a new US model Jackson. Japanese models were my only option for a great new guitar. This explains the new models coming out of different countries.

Do Fender have a factory in Japan? The MIJ Charvel are (were build) in the same factory than the Jackson?

I'm not as familiar with the facilities as you probably are X. I dug and dug searching for info and couldn't find any either, then DM010 posted the link to that page. Hoping the translation of that page will help some of you with the knowledge shed a lil light on the subject.

Does anyone know where the Japanese Charvels are built? I'd love to get one of those in the future but that may not happen then I guess.

Since Namm was just last week and dealers otfen order stock at Namm, perhaps someone who was there can shed some light on the Japanese Charvel issue? If they are done perhaps a price spike is on the horizon?

Thomann.de still stock the Charvel pro-mods and the ones that aren't in stock have confirmed restock dates.

SLSMG is discontinued in Canada. So Chushin closes down is a fact.
