Well this is interesting, it is a 500k ohm pot in there. Nothing is connected to the secondary switch (obviously). I wish I knew if that is the same pot that was always in there (since I bought it), but it's tough to say. I know for sure that the pot hasn't been connected to the circuit board for as long as I've owned it.
I see some real cheap 50k pots in eBay, thinking of just getting one of those. Any danger in that?

I am almost sure that one of those bodies was up on ebay a few months ago.

Good deal man, glad it worked out for you. 95% of the time, the pot is the issue in the JE electronics. The boards themselves are decent units, very rarely would they go bad.

Can anyone tell me which locking nuts are on the crackle 475s? I purchased one and they are missing. I am guessing r4?

Yeah I saw that one too, seems like he wants a bit more than its worth.

A bit lagged, I know, but a worthwhile thread so....found my platinum 475 in a charity shop in Bristol, England. Nearly missed out on it because somebody was there before me, checking it out and consulting with a friend on mobile. Must have got bad info (he needs new friends) as it was back on shelf when I returned later, so I grabbed it. Judging by condition - pristine apart from minor tarnish to metal - and the mega-mouldy stink of the case must have been stored pretty much since new. Serial no. 342061. Happy bunny
