  • Kelly Bass! I want!

Ok, so I JUST learned the Kelly shape comes a bass version too! (I'm er.. a bit slow ) Is it still in production? Or do I have to search for it. Was it 4 string only? I'd love a 5 string version!

Hope someone can help me out with this

    Cheers!

I didn't see it on the Jackson website. Custom shop, maybe?

Most likely, there's one for sale here, but it's too far away for me to be able to get it. Damn shame!

It was an old series if I'm not mistaken, late 90's/early 00's. Only came in 4 string models.

Aha, that's some good info, thanks. Was it a Japanese model? Does anyone think it's possible to convert to a 5 string somehow?

I'm half certain they were, but I am not a scientist. Here's the page from the catalog:

You lucky man! I want one in black, of course. I'd use it as a stage bass when I don't need to play my 5 string Warwick

Thanks for the link to the catalog

since all the "guitarplayers" are helping you out and there is really nothing more to say, I am just lurking.

if you must have a Kelly, find a Kelly KBX, forget about all the other P/J Kelly KB-1's

                    Jackson basses forever
( has nothing to do with me being a bassplayer or owning a couple dozen of them )

Considering the limited neck width for 5 strings to fit on, while it may be possible, I doubt it's feasible.

a guy on TalkBass does that on his own creations, uses a 4string unit and converts them to 5'ers, not any issues adding a tuner/nut/bridge/pickups but the spacing is so tight I wouldn't want to play one for more than noodling....

Yeah, maybe I can get a wider neck and widen the neck joint space a bit? I am gonna have to look into this further. Or just tune the 4 to B-E-A-D
