And are you crazy? How does the body shape differ at all from a Fusion or Dinky?[/IMG]
I didn't say the Jacksons didn't resemble Jacksons.

I'm still in the mindset that Charvels are imports and Jacksons are USA. I have a hard time breaking that since it was ingrained at such a young age. :P

    • Its more about we used to KNOW what we were buying. Either it was from USA or Japan. Same people, same plants, Jackson AND Charvel. We knew what we were getting, where they came from, and who made them. Now, Charvels are Chineese, Jacksons are Indian, Chineese and now Indonesian. We have no idea who or where these guitars are coming from... they have no history, no passion, just nothing behind them.

J/C imports were all made by the same people since 1986, they largely defined what J/C was all about for the past 25 years. Some call it a reputation, consistancy... what ever you want to call it, they had it. Todays guitars... they're just generic cookie cutter guitars now, and thats not what Jackson or Charvel, USA or Import, was ever about.

      • I mean for christ sakes, the lower strap button isnt even centered on the body on that trans blue guitar up there. Thats the kind of crap Im talking about. If they cant pay attention to a small detail like that, imagine the corners theyre cutting elsewhere.

        • The offset dots remind me too much of the crappy "performer" Jacksons and a pain-in-the-ass PS4 I used to have.

Still I kinda like the neck joint and the natural body binding is nice. I hope at some point they put sharkies in them because there's nothing wrong with having signature feature besides the head shape

Amen to all that. When I would go into the guitar store and see "Jackson" all the way at the other end of the store I knew exactly what badass guitar that would be. Now seeing the name doesn't even turn my head.

            Quality, not quantity.

            • For me, I miss the old Jackson of either USA or MIJ, but a Jackson without sharkies is just odd to me. No matter where it comes from. Just my opinion.

              • i could care less one way or another. i used to be against 3rd world or commie made guitars until i started playing around on squires at GC for the heck of it. they have come a long way. i will say that if these new jacksons play HALF as well as my new squire jazzmaster, then i will get one. if it doesn't, then i will leave it where it belongs - hanging on the wall to get abused at GC.
                GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                and finally....

Jackson used to be like a Rolex. Now they're like a Timex.

                  • i agree, but with the constant upcharge in USAs and the excessive restrictions on the CS, as well as wait times, jackson is killing it's own legacy. in my honest opinion, that happened as soon as they went to japanese models - period. i have equated jackson as a toy brand since the mid 90s when you had to hunt for a good one. at least in the early 2000's, the USA prices were still decent - and under valued. but the introduction of the professional, performer, concept, MG, X, etc...that ruined jackson WAY before them moving production to where they are now.

i know that is a bit of an asshole opinion, but that's how i feel. that is also why i do not own any import jacksons....only USAs.

Nah, that's not being an asshole at all, that's just how the brand prided itself back then.

Mid to late 90's custom shop pieces were the peak of USA Jackson quality, IMO. I've never found a newer US or CS piece better. And I've tried.

                      • Stupid question: what do I do if I want a single hum or a hum+single?

just looked through the catalog and you're either stuck with 2 hums or the AS SDX with HSS (before Select/CS prices start)

You would think that with so much variety being released they would also have looked at P'up-configs

                        ....guess not
