elite models are the last of the guitars to come out of the japanese factory a step above the regular models. The factory wasn't making money so they called it quits.

Great, so were doomed to Indian and Chinese for imports now? So does that mean everything between X and Select series will be Indian or Chinese now, or will the lines in between those two lines be shit canned all together? I have to say, Im not feeling to swell about Jackson at the moment. Thank god theres plenty in the used market.

Not that the Indian or Chinese fiddles would be bad, but having no new Japanese Jacksons, to me, is just sacrilege. The Jackson name and the Japanese made guitars are a loooong running tradition. Just seems wrong.

FMIC/Jackson didn't close the Japan plant. It was a contracted company, and they shut down.

The only other alternative would have been ESP and Hoshino (Ibanez), or Caparison, who are busy enough with their own business.

Given FMIC's success in Mexico, I wouldn't be opposed to Mexi-Jacks.
Seems like a better alternative to The People's Guitar Factory #23

I could go Mexican too now that you remind me. I had a Mexi-Strat once you could literally throw on the floor and it would hold tuning.

It's a combination of the shitty global economy and the tsunami/earthquake.

Hey Twitch, caught you off guard? :P

The Japanese factory was churning guitars out for a very low profit range, and called it quits. Nothing, (I think) to do with the tsunami. For the moment we'll be stuck with Indian JS/X series, and Chinese Charvel's. Also USA Series, but who wants that? :P

The Elite series is to go out with a bang. The last Japanese Jackson's with different specs.

I wouldn't be opposed to Mexican Jackson's and Charvel's, I just hope they'll have 22/24 frets, (as stupid as it sounds, one of the only things preventing me from buying a MIM Fender, minus the Jim Root Tele).

Agreed, great points. I would much rather have a Mexican Charvel than a Communist Chinese slave labor Charvel built by a 12 year old forced to work 15 hours a day. Now we have even Cadillac moving production TO CHINA !!!!! I hope Americans finally just say no to this crap and refuse to buy those cars.

Only if we can call them Jaxicans.

+1. Have had several MIK axes and they all were quality guitars. Down to one MIK ESP/ LTD now but with a proper p'up in it, it really kicks ass!

That explains it! I kept wondering who's little hands could fit in those tiny control cavities! my big American hands couldn't manage it.
