Forgot about this thread.
Currently have a Screamin Demon in the neck and a Duncan Distortion DDJ in the rear. Going to load up a TB4 JB w/A2 mag next; and I got a TB5 Custom off ebay yesterday that I'll try later.
I think this axe will be the pickup trail platform.

I've tried stock TZ-Evo, SD JB-'59, SD Alt 8-Jazz, and an SD Alt 8-PG combo in my Candy Green So-Cal.
I naturally dislike DiMarzios. Everyone I have tried sounded dark and lifeless to me. So I didn't play the stocks very long.
The JB-'59 was too dark. I have never found a guitar I liked the JB in, and although I do like the '59 it wasn't what I was looking for for this guitar.
The Alt 8-Jazz, I love the tone from the Alt 8, but the bass is a bit too loose. Thinking about maybe doing a mag swap to ceramic to tighten it up. The Jazz was closer to what I was looking for. It brightened it up, but sounds too thin, I have never liked the Jazz either.
The PG is working atm, brighter than the '59, fuller than the Jazz, but I like the SD Blackouts, have them in a few of my guitars. I want to try them, but I don't want to cut the stock pick guard. I was thinking about getting a pick guard from Warmoth and going H-S-S, been wanting to try the Blackout singles.
I just picked up a Pagan Gold So-Cal last week which still has the stock TZ and Evo. I have been playing that stock. I like the TZ better than I remember, still a little dark, but i like it more than the JB. Evo still does nothing for me, absolutely nothing. Thinking again about getting a Warmoth pick guard and going H-S-S. May try a Super Distortion and some Fender Hot Noisless singles. Spec it to the Adrian Smith Jackson.
I also have a black San Dimas I bought used for a refinish. I think it is still stock with a JB-'59, I haven't checked. But that combo actually sounds a little brighter and thinner in the San Dimas, so maybe they have been switched. Thinking about trying an SD Custom or Custom 5 in the bridge with a Pearly Gates. Don't play that guitar much. It needs a new switch and a new volume pot too. Once I get it refinished I will re-wire it and find the pick ups it needs.Last edited by Steel City Psycho; 08-10-2012, 01:25 AM.I DESPISE ROSEWOOD WITH A PASSION!!!

Have have 4 pro mods/ production models currently.
I've got a Dimarzio Tone Zone/ Area 67'/ Injector in my red So-Cal and it's my main guitar.
I have a set of SD mick Thompson Blackouts in my Slimer guitar and they sound great too (it used to be my main guitar before the So-Cal)
I have a SD Custom/ SD 59' (a2) with coil taps in my Style 2 2H tele and they're cool, but not my favorites.
I have a Tom Anderson HN3 (b) and Dimarzio PAF PRO (n) in my Condomcaster and I'm not liking that combo, so It's probable going to go.
Here's a lids of all the PU's I've had in my promods if you want to know how one sounds-
Seymour Duncan (b): JB, Invader, Custom, Custom Custom, Custom 8, AHB3 Blackout, Distortion,
Seymour Duncan (n) 59, 59 (a2), Invader, Classic stack

Dimarzio (n)- Evo, PAF Pro, Injector, Area 67
Others- Motor City Nuke (set), Tom Anderson HN3 (b), Suhr Aldrich (b)

A Super D was high on the list, but I needed a TB spaced Seymour to fill in the pickup ring. F Spaced DiMarzios have the wide pole spacing, but the bobbins aren't that much wider. Besides, I have Super Distortions in a few other axes. Great pickup.
