I order boxes from "www.uline.com" only bad thing is you usually have to buy a minimum of five of the same size box. Great variety of box sizes.
No honey, I have always had this Jackson....

USPS has different standards than UPS for dimensional weight (pricing based on size), they are usually cheaper, and i've had good success with the postal service NOT breaking things, even guitars i've sent over to japan from NY.

+1. I usually use USPS, but the Kelly box was listed as 'oversize' so it would have been $20 more than UPS. But for regular sized guitars, I have always had good luck with USPS, and they are usually cheaper.

I don't even bother to ask at GC. I drive around to the back and raid their cardboard bin whenever I need a guitar shipping box. A box that's the right size for a Kelly case might be a little difficult--probably some acoustic guitar boxes would work. It's definitely going to cost you on the shipping.

We just moved a couple months ago, and I was doing a whole bunch of dumpster diving for quality cardboard. I probably enjoyed it a little more than I should have.

I'm the same way, I have a stash of boxes for guitars I intend to sell but usually don't.

Fed Ex and UPS are probably the worst on claims and fine print. USPS actually honors insurance from what I understand out of the three.
That said, I would never ever in any way ever use a UPS store for any shipping other than drop off.

When all else fails. Dumpster dive for a box or make one but I absolutely will not pay for a box and packing.
I think I sense a need for a youtube video in this, with a bit of a comical edge.

I used to live in Phoenix and there are plenty of bike stores there.
You might also contact Jackson Guitars out in Scottsdale they should have an exact box for a Kelly.

Nope, I found a different kelly. So maybe that black kelly will resurface for you. LOL

And I've already gotten in touch with my contact who works at FMIC in Scottsdale. He said since they've switched to the new style cases, the boxes for the old, larger style aren't around anymore. But I'm hoping my brother in law has some luck with the bike shops by his house this weekend. I've got the shipping all worked out once I get the box.

Yep, me too. Our local Guitar Center has 2 dumpsters. 1 is used only for cardboard boxes. The other is where everything else goes. This makes for a nice clean environment when dumpster diving .

Also, Fed Ex is way cheaper than UPS. Anyone can open their own Fed Ex business account. Just open up an account as "your name enterprises". You get a big discount AND !!! you can have people ship guitars to you on your own account, just give them the account number. I never spend over $25 shipping a guitar, never.

Thanks for all the input. My brother in law was able to get a box from a bike store near him - they were more than happy to help out. I also found out my sister in law has a Fedex account. Ground shipping with full insurance was only $32 from Phoenix to Cleveland. So (as Lepard said) it's definitely worth looking into to set up your own Fedex business account.

My new kelly will be here in a couple days.
