  • Thru-neck Kellys without trems?

So, my CS Kelly has only been with me five minutes and I'm already thinking about how I can get another one. I can't afford another CS model, but I don't want a KE3, as I want a thru-neck! All the KE2s I've seen have Floyd Roses, which I really don't want - are there any standard models that come without a trem that you guys are aware of?

No, there's nothing in the standard lineup any more. There used to be the Marty Friedman KE1 and KE1T, as well as the KE2T, but they've been discontinued for quite some time.

I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

That hot-rod flames guitar is sexy

Guess I'll be keeping an eye on the 'Bay then :/

Either look for those models or get a tremol-no.

I block the trem in my KE3 / DK1 because it'a a Takuchi (sp?) and I'll never find a bar.

I've decided this is what I'm going to do. Only problem I've got is that KE2s are stupid money over here! £2,500 for a transparent or swirl finish, £2,000 for a solid colour! O_o

I found a transparent black one with EMGs in the States, for $1,000... even with the import tax that would be cheaper than buying one here! Seller doesn't ship overseas though...

There are services that will broker US only sales - http://www.myus.com/ I'm in Canada now but was in the UK until I was 33 and basically I bought all my stuff from the US unless I found a bargain locally - shipping and taxes have to be accounted for, but it was always waaaay cheaper and there was much more selection. Of course, the GBP being in the crapper doesn't help these days...

Just registered with them, thanks! I've just looked at the HMRC site and calculated the import tax (£400! O_O ) - even with that it still works out about £1000 cheaper than buying from the UK...

Also, don't forget some sellers will state US only as a default, but if you ask them they'll actually ship to Europe.

400 quid taxes on a $1100 guitar? I thought VAT was 20%, then you pay duty which I think is 5%....

I already emailed the guy as I always list UK shipping only but will ship abroad if people ask - he's definitely US only though.

Just rechecked the HMRC site, it's actually nearer £240 - I'd put in the figures wrong!

So I've pulled the trigger... all being well, this will be in my possession not too far in the future:

More pictures to come once I have it, obviously!

Congrats, that's a really nice flame. Make sure you GTWGITS in your impending NGD thread!

Very cool! So did you buy it direct from the seller, or through the 'middle-man'?

Oh don't worry, I will! I sense some double-Kelly shots are imminent

I've done the transaction, but he's shipping to an address in Louisville. Then they'll ship it to me; I'll pay the shipping and import tax to them, they'll deal with customs for me.

Never done anything like this before; I'm just waiting for an email or a phone call telling me that something's gone wrong

You'll be fine - the power of positive thought! I'm not sure how they can deal with UK customs for you as I thought that was all done when the item arrived in the country (or the advanced papers anyway). But if it's part of the service you pay for then more power to them.
