  • Anyone have info on this snakeskin design?

    Hey guys,
Starting to see if I can find this copper snakeskin, but I know nothing about them. Are these all custom made colors or did they have a regular run of these? I know another forumite got his done by Dan Lawrence...Also, it seems like it was made for both Charvel and Jackson? Would a san dimas neck fit in either the Charvel or Jackson bodies? As you can tell, I'm pretty clueless on this...

Here's a pic of the design(not neccessarily the neck) that I'm looking at. Any one have any information on this design?

Copper snakeskin is a current standard finish. (Current circa 2009/10 at least.)

Several years ago it seems like there were a number of Guitar Centers that had at least 1 copperhead Charvel reissue SD. Those had 2 hums, a floyd and a rosewood fingerboard. My local GC had one and that's rare for them to have a Charvel in that store. I see those pop up on Ebay every now and then. It was a standard production graphic for the SD reissues. The one from your pic has the vtrem with the maple fingerboard which I don't remember seeing before on a copperhead. Nice looking guitar.

If you like the graphic, you can always get in touch with Dan Lawrence and have him do a refin on a guitar of your choice. He's cool to work with and does killer paint work.

Thanks for the info guys, it helps! So even though this is considered a standard color, any reason why they are priced so much more than the san dimas line? So what's a good price for those? Even though it's a regular line item, it seems like it command a really high premium? Or do I just need to be patient and something under 1G will come along?

They're more expensive because the finish is a graphic and therefore requires more preparation, work and time than a solid colour.

You should look at the new Warren Dimartini Snakeskins. To me, those are the best version of snakeskin that Charvel/Jackson has offered in a long time.

I think most snake skins look horrible and tacky, but the new WD models look great and they have matching headstocks...
